Lead Designer at National TrustThere’s never been a more exciting time to work in Brand and Marketing at the National Trust. Our brand is stronger than ever, our campaigns are bigger and bolder than ever and our marketing activity is standing up and winning high profile, national awards.
What it's like to work here
The National Trust's award-winning central office in Swindon, is a remarkable example of innovative and sustainable building construction. Designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Architects in 2005, this architectural gem uses timber from our woodlands and wool from Herdwick sheep grazed on Trust farmlands, to help make Heelis a unique working environment.
What you'll be doing
As a key member of our internal marketing agency, you’ll play an important role in delivering engaging, multi-channel campaigns to help us attract and recruit new members. You will play a lead role in our in-house design service, creating inspired online and offline design solutions for clients, on brief and within brand identity guidelines – from concept to final delivery. You’ll be a creative leader with experience and clarity of thought who will use their expertise to provide advice and ideas when interpreting design briefs. The work is varied and this role will need to lead and be passionate about the small tactical pieces of design as well as the bigger concepts – attention to detail and consistency is key. You will need to be innovative and able to understand and apply a channel agnostic approach to your design.
It’s an exciting time for marketing in the National Trust. As we strive to change perceptions of our brand and communicate to our supporters in a more relevant and real-time fashion the need for excellent and consistent creative has never been stronger. This role will be fundamental to providing creative solutions that ‘joins the dots’ as we look to move forward. The role will be the hub of creative inspiration within the Trust, motivating Whole Trust teams and regional and country colleagues alike.
Who we're looking for
Ideally you’ll come to us with senior level experience and a proven track record in leading high-performing creative and design teams – agency or client-side. We’ll be looking to you to manage the design team on a day to day basis, so you’ll need to have a proven track record of managing and delivering innovation in a multi-disciplinary environment along with the ability to share learning and creative ideas.
Whilst you may have a specialist design skill, you’ll need to be comfortable working across all media. Organised and efficient, you enjoy managing a number of projects at any one time and you’ll be comfortable responding to tight deadlines. We’d expect you to have a substantial awareness and appreciation for great creativity and design – on and offline, while you’re attention to detail will be impeccable. Above all, you pride yourself on delivering work on time, on budget and to the highest standards. Proven expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator is essential and expertise in working with and understanding digital technology, particularly HTML and CSS is desired.
