A Creative Artworker at U-Dox is responsible for creating design solutions that have a high visual impact. Reporting into the Design Lead and working within U-Dox’s creative department. You will not be afraid to ask questions and will have the confidence and communication skills to liaise with the various departments within the business.
You will be experienced in multi-tasking with good planning and organisation skills. We want you to be forward thinking, committed, enthusiastic and passionate about creative!
A good understanding of graphic design, typography and digital standards is required, as is the experience to execute projects across visuals, print, websites, apps, film, motion graphics or other type of media. The work demands creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry software and a professional approach to take concepts through to artworked completion.
The Creative Artworker may be working on more than one design brief at a time and this will mean s(he) will need to highlight any risks or delays to the Design Lead and Project Manager in order ensure the project is delivered on time.
To interpret a client's needs and, in collaboration with the Senior Art Director and U-Dox’s creative team, develop concepts to suit their purpose within the constraints of cost and time.
To think creatively to produce new ideas and concepts, adding to the creative process with regard to design style, format and timescale and using innovation to redefine a design brief.
To develop design approaches by gathering information through research, staying up to date with industry trends and developments.
To work with a wide range of media, including typography, photography, animation and video.
To proof-read to produce accurate and high-quality work, reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements if required.
Excellent attention to detail with regard to pixel perfect layout and typography.
A good understanding of brand and corporate guidelines.
A complete understanding of issues relating to device variations, different output resolutions and the need to optimise asset sizes for different target bandwidths.
Obsessive about delivering work in a well organised, rationally labelled and fully separated format (via layers and/or filenames).
Fastidious about archiving and documenting ongoing and completed work.
To work on layouts and artworking pages ready for print.
To present finalised ideas and concepts both internally and, when required, to clients.
To accurately estimate the time required to complete the work.
To work as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, stylists, illustrators, other designers, account executives and web developers.
What we are looking for:
Excellent skills across Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
Strong image retouching skills.
Basic understanding of HTML5.
Agency background is a plus.
A portfolio demonstrating the above
Excellent IT skills, especially with design and photo-editing software, including a knowledge of the technical restrictions and specifications of the hardware and software used
Excellent creativity and innovation skills
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Meticulous attention to detail
An understanding of the latest trends and their role within a commercial environment, in particular concerning U-Dox’s client base (eg sneakers, streetwear and street culture)
The skill to transform a verbal idea into a visual experience, including an understanding of users and how they will interact with the product being developed
A strong sense of what is excellent and on trend in typography, layout and graphical styles etc.
The ability to thrive off a challenge and enjoy designing solutions
Good written and verbal communication skills
