We’re looking for a developer to join our team, who has experience shipping products, skilled in JavaScript and Python, and comfortable working out of code too. We’re a new team, so you’ll have a great opportunity to help shape the way we work, and make our processes more efficient. We’re flexible when it comes to your background, but we’re looking for people who are passionate about user needs, collaboration, and the ethics of technology.

The job

- Use a full-stack approach to agile software development
- Help the team write quality code
- Help the team create tests for what we make
- Create culture of shared learning, pair programming and code reviews
- Use Git effectively to collaborate on code and track issues
- Write effective Readme files for internal and external use
- Introduce new technical tools and practises to the team
- Bring technical realism and critical thinking to the prototypes and products we make
- Helping to manage and monitor our servers
- Occasionally working with the team to experiment with and prototype hardware
- Manage the technical team, and support the Director and Head of Design with the recruitment and selection process of new team members
- As a small team there are a set of responsibilities that we all share, including writing and talking about our work, planning and carrying out meetings

Experience:

- At least 5 years experience in development
- Experience with frameworks like Node.js and Flask
- Worked with HTML, CSS, SASS and cloud platforms like Heroku and Digital Ocean
- Experience of building and testing accessible websites
- Demonstrable experience of working in a team to collaboratively make real things
- Good understanding and practical experience of agile working methods
- Understand how to secure online accounts, hardware, infrastructure and how to communicate securely
- Solid understanding of how the web works

- Can absorb complex information quickly and communicate new ideas effectively
- Comfortable working on projects where there is high uncertainty
