Graphic Design Internship at Open CityOpen City is seeking a graphic design intern to assist our in-house designer in the design and development of our brand identity across a wide range of media.
Open City is a charity promoting an ethical, people-centred approach to designing, making, sustaining and accessing the buildings and places that define our cities. Uniquely among built environment organisations, Open City speaks directly to the public, the public sector and government as well as the commercial property sector. We run a number of programmes to engage, enable and educate our public and professional audiences on the value of great architecture and urban design.
Benefits of Internship
The internship is a great opportunity to be involved in a series of projects from print to digital, with an emphasis on usability and simplicity. The rebranding will cover a range of areas, starting from the redesign of Open City’s logo and its declinations into the organisation’s sub-brands. You will be working closely with our in-house designer on the ideation and development of several assets, reviewing them together in order to guarantee consistency and brand coherence throughout. As such, you will gain real work experience at every stage of the project, from design development to production, while developing your graphic design skills in a real work environment.
→ Open City + programmes (sub-brands) logos
→ corporate stationery + templates for internal use (Microsoft Word and/or Pages)
→ publications to accompany the various programmes’ events
→ Open City website
→ Open House database web-app
→ Open House London App
→ ability to work independently, contribute with your own ideas but also understand inputs and follow directions
→ willingness to learn
→ good/proficient knowledge of Adobe software and Bohemian Coding Sketch (desirable)
→ ability to think systemically
→ strong passion for and understanding of typography
→ attention to detail, but also the ability to relate single assets to the overall picture
At the start of the internship, we will help you identify skills-gaps which we will aim to cover. You will be invited to all Open City events, which are great opportunities to meet and engage with our extensive network of education, design and built-environment professionals. You will also be invited to represent Open City at various networking events at high-profile museums, galleries, exhibitions and associations.
