Who we’re looking for:
•You will have an instinctive curiosity and awareness of everything going on around you.
•You will have great social media appreciation, and will know how to use it as an ongoing source for current, breaking, alternative information.
•You will have a grounding in trend research, an eye for identifying emerging behaviours and the ability to translate these into creative ideas.
•You are inquisitive and passionate about learning.
•You will be asked not just to compile information but question your discoveries, form and articulate an opinion on your findings and present back to the team in a coherent and comprehensive manner.
•You will have the ability to think deeply about a subject, to delve beyond the obvious to find the true meaning and gain true understanding of a subject.
•You will have strong research and analysis skills – taking on a brief, questioning it, thoroughly investigating all avenues and identifying and answering new questions that fall from it – discovering key insights that will add value and direction to creative projects.
•You will be a clear, confident and engaging presenter. You must be able to stand up and explain your thoughts to an audience of people and be prepared and able to be questioned and challenged on your work.
•You will have excellent written skills.
•You will be able to understand narrative and be able to write up concepts and ideas using a narrative form to tell an engaging story.
•You will be immersed in the world of Fast Company, Dezeen, Co Create, It’s Nice That, 99U, Icon, Wired, The Next Web, Aeon, Mashable, Scenario, Off Screen, Good, Concious etc.
•This role will only suit an ambitious, self-motivated, deeply intelligent, creative and enthusiastic individual.
•Researching a broad range of topics, formulating hypothesis and identifying starting threads of ideas to form the basis of our creative team’s thinking.
•Trend research, visual research, data research, social media research, influencer identification, technology research, biographical research, academic research, interviewing / observation research, experience mapping (for example a retail or buying experience).
•Researching specific audience groups using the above methodologies, pulling out unique insights and using them to build a narratively written audience profile.
•Reviewing your own / other team members’ research, to identify genuine insights in amongst a large volume of information.
•Presenting back research findings and insights in an engaging and succinct way – internally to the four23 team, and also to clients during face to face meetings.
•Writing narratives for pitches, explaining creative concepts and how those concepts were developed from research insights.
•Contributing links and references to four23 social channels including publishing content through twitter and 4+2+3 a weekly newsletter of must reads form four23.
•Developing and building positive relationships with colleagues, clients and freelancers.
•Briefing and supporting freelance specialist researchers, setting deliverables, areas to cover and guidance on how we would like their research presented, managing their time, and reviewing and providing feedback as they work.
•Create and embed best practice in the studio for Research and Analysis and contribute to the growing four23 knowledge hub.
•Continually identifying new trends, cultural shifts or areas of development that a modern communications studio should be aware of, to feed in to our internal knowledge sharing programme.
•Organise our ever growing research library –ensuring that useful references, influencers and exemplars are catalogued at the end of the research phase of a project for future use.
•Proactively finding new sources of data and information, including subscription services, online research tools, social media analytics platforms, specialist market research agencies, and idendifying consumer facing platforms that may have a relevant data offering.
•You will contribute to the creative process, helping the team to turn the insights from your research into concepts and ideas.

Minimum 2 years Trend Research experience.
HOURS OF WORK
9.30am to 6pm 5 days a week
Sometimes a project will demand that we work beyond those times and occasionally weekends.
Those times are given back in lieu and we also provide refresh days that are taken after a major deadline or event. Those days are taken immediately and do not count as holiday.
25 days per annum.
We close for Christmas and New Year.
And if you want to take all the holidays in one lump to have an adventure – feel free (after being here beyond 1 year).
