Our mission is to communicate ideas that matter, working for charities, NGOs, think tanks and research organisations to make sure their messages reach the right audiences. Our clients include Chatham House, Imperial College London, UNICEF and many more.
We started out as a print design agency in 2008 but we’ve been doing digital work for almost as long and it’s now the fastest growing part of our business.
Our portfolio includes plenty of organisational websites but we have also built our own online reader interface (to allow users to read and navigate long reports via web browsers), online periodicals, interactive tools and bespoke media-rich online presentations.
We’re looking for a talented digital designer to join our London-based web team. If you’re passionate about harnessing the potential of online communications to meet the needs of our clients and their audience, this could be the opportunity for you.


About the role:

You will be involved in projects from kick-off to launch, helping with concept development, strategy and IA, before delivering wireframes and designs, and ensuring these are carried forward into the finished product.
We are a very customer-focused agency and we believe in giving our staff maximum professional autonomy, so you’ll often be in direct contact with clients, taking in feedback and updating your designs as required.
We employ a lot of designers but our specialised digital design team is still small. You'll have real responsibility for developing approaches and solutions that will help shape our future practice.

About you:

We’re looking for someone with substantial professional web design experience who’s used to working within tight deadlines and restricted budgets. You will have a keen eye for detail and impeccable design skills, including (but not restricted to) digital typography, layout, colour and brand application. You’ll be eager to stay on top of new trends and innovations in digital communications and find ways to apply them to your own work.
It’s vital that you have a solid understanding of user-centred design principles and usability issues, as well as responsive design. This includes a good grasp of accessibility issues and the importance of empathy in digital design.
You will have plenty of previous experience of coordinating your efforts with those of a wider team and ideally you’ll have worked in a customer-facing role. You will know how to ensure you are properly briefed and to take direction, but also to work independently, using sound judgement to decide when to seek advice from others.
You will have an excellent command of written and spoken English and you should be ready to explain and justify design decisions to the client and your colleagues.
And if, on top of all this, you can demonstrate an interest in current affairs, public policy or open data, that would be the cherry on the cake.
