Technical Manager and 3D Specialist at Acrylicize Ltd

Acrylicize is a multidisciplinary creative studio that is exploring the boundaries between art and design in the context of place-making and identity. We design, produce, and install bespoke art installations to express a brand or identity, disrupting both the traditional art world model and accepted notions of branding.

We are now looking for a brilliant Technical Manager and 3D Specialist to help us realize our designs, get them ready for production, and liaise with fabricators to explore and confirm technical details as early as possible. This person will be an invaluable resource by representing a technical perspective very early on in the conception of our projects. You will also be key in producing 3D visuals of ideas. When not engaged in specific projects, you will be able to invest your time in research and development of complex geometries and the 3D software and tools that the studio can use to support its ideas.

Main Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of fresh ideas for projects
• The ability to transfer conceptual ideas into build-able 3D installations demonstrating expert level in key industry 3D softwares
• Work directly with key suppliers and fabricators to exchange ideas about
• Work with Project Managers to identify kaey deliverables and begin to execute certain tasks independently
• Transfer graphic skills and sensibilities to spatial and environmental contexts
• Produce attractive and effective design documents
• Support the team throughout the execution of projects
• Communicate with senior team members to receive feedback
• Provide mentorship to Junior Designers and ensure they are given opportunities to learn
• Liaise effectively with all studio team members
• Carry out site-specific research for opportunities
• Prepare design review materials to show to James
• Artwork up designs for production
• Contribute any other relevant specialist skills to the rest of the team when appropriate
• Conduct site visits, taking dimensions, sketches, and photographs

Required Skills

• An education in the design field
• 5-7 years experience in a similar role
• Excellent skills with 3D and drawing software packages (SketchUp , Rhino, AutoCAD)
• Proven experience facilitating creative teams
• Proven experience designing in three-dimensions
• Excellent knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
• Ability to carry out tasks independently and efficiently
• Great attention to detail
• A keen interest in learning and mentoring junior studio members
• Excellent organisational skills that support the rest of the team and fall in line with studio standards
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Consistent demonstration of critical thinking
• A passion for quality in every endeavour
• Proven ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent team player attitude
• Consistency in quality of work across projects and stages
• Willingness to listen to feedback and use it to improve
• A hunger to constantly improve the studio’s output
