Rochester Independent College offers a fresh alternative to traditional independent education for students from the age of 11 to sixth form. There's no uniform, students and staff are on first name terms and the average class size is 8. We focus on the highest levels of academic achievement while retaining a creative buzz. We provide first class GCSE and A level teaching, including successful retake programmes, to students aiming for top universities.

We are looking for a digital marketing specialist to join our busy team, reporting to the Marketing Director and the Principal and liaising with our external digital contractors. Our innovative website has been designed by one of the best agencies in the business and we now need a creative, intelligent, sparky individual to manage it moving forward and lead on all aspects of the College’s digital marketing. Our approach to presenting the college online is designed to reflect our distinctive ethos and market positioning, eschewing the conventional iconography and traditional feel of independent education. We’re looking for someone who is both interested in education and really understands the potential of the digital world for story-telling and brand identity.

The job description will be finalised according to the experience and expertise of the successful candidate but duties are likely to include:

  • Website maintenance and strategy for increasing traffic
  • SEO optimisation
  • Managing Google analytics and stats
  • Adwords and other PPC management for local, UK and international campaigns.
  • Managing all of the college’s web listings, social media channels and break out blogs, helping to consolidate our brand identity in a way that resonates with our different audiences
  • Working on traditional marketing events and activities as required
  • A focus on newsgathering, content generation and storytelling across different media
  • Assisting the marketing and admissions department with anything that needs doing in our busy offices!
  • Engaging current and prospective parents, staff and agents by creating newsletters, surveys and other communications as required.
  • Assisting in the establishment of an alumni network
  • Working on increasing our web presence in different international markets, e.g China, Russia and Nigeria.
  • General administration duties as required

Person specification:

  • Degree, preferably in digital media, marketing or graphic design or postgraduate qualification in the area.
  • Experience of web design and SEO.
  • Creative and design skills, (InDesign, Photoshop and Video editing expertise preferred). Experience of using Wordpress/other CMS, Google Analytics and MS Office.
  • Experience of project and budget management
  • Excellent standards of written English required
  • Experience of marketing required
  • Experience of independent education and international schools an advantage

7 weeks’ holiday per year

Some evening and weekend work may be required at key points in the year or to assist with college events.
