The Company:

Having been founded by a team of experienced Science, Health, and Product minds, and partnering with investors and advisors of some of the top-growing companies in the UK (and the world), as well as with exceptional health experts and doctors, this company is paving the way for a new road towards a healthy life; one that is lead by how (and how well) the mind works.

Though small at the moment, they are focused on some very important and major goals that could affect major change in the quality of life for many, many people.

The Role:

You would be a new addition to the team that is working to create a seamless user experience and product design; easy to use, sleek, and fitting of the brand vision.

This company is focused on understanding the product users and what they need, and clearly communicating the brand and product details, their vision, the research and science behind it. They are looking to bring in someone who is passionate about shaping the product with impeccable UX and UI design features – an excellent eye for detail, great at teamwork, and incredibly proactive and can really dig in their heels and get things done.

The team is still small, but growing, and needs someone who is happy to really take the reins, push the design forward, and help the product to grow, develop, and change to meet the needs of the consumers and the business goals.

About You:

Looking for someone who is keen to get their hands on a lot of different types of projects, problems, and responsibilities that come with working in a new business. A lot of opportunities will present themselves for improvement, change, and adjustments to ideas – all of which needs to be something that is exciting for you – we want someone who is happy to roll with the punches, so to speak. The company is looking for somebody who wants to put the work in to see major results within the business and to be part of something that can impact many people’s lives.

  • Enjoys the research aspect of design; in order to develop product and design strategies, we first need to understand the problem we are trying to solve
  • Effective design is your jam; how impactful will an idea be on things – this should be a key part of how think through design solutions
  • Driven by impact, and validating your ideas through design as leanly as possible
  • Be a part of a team – what we mean is, as it’s still small, but growing, the design aspect and how it links to all other aspects of the product and the business, will be an important part of the company – so collaborative efforts, communication, and understanding is key
  • Multiple design skills are needed here – you’ll need to have a flexible product design skillset: from initial research and data, prototyping, through to final UX/UI
  • Can show projects and experience that exemplify both UX and UI work that is sleek, adaptive, and that you can explain very clearly and with excitement behind the design
  • You value inclusivity, accessibility and ethics in your approach to design
  • For the data and research aspect you need to enjoy working with people, listening to and understanding the consumer POV and problems
  • Able to communicate research findings clearly to all team members
  • Need to be an organised person – a lot of things will be happening in parallel so ability to multi-task and stay on top of things will be very important
  • Proactive! Someone who can take the lead and get the job done
  • Have the business in mind; design decisions should always lend themselves to the business needs

Your Experience:

Not an “end all be all” list, but some things that are “ideal”

  • Experience shipping a digital product on a global-scale
  • Has worked as part of a cross-functional team
  • You have worked in either a startup or you have e-commerce experience (ideally both!)
  • Your portfolio showcases your skillset and how you’ve contributed to and thought through a project
  • Worked with a component-based design system, ideally built one from scratch
  • Experience leading user research
  • Have some mobile-first experience and this is how you think

What You’ll Be Working On:

The product is currently in MVP stage, so what will be worked on first is:

  • Visual Identity
  • Component-based design system
  • Conversion flow (homepage, PDP, cart, landing page, etc.)
  • Experimentation Roadmap
  • How content is / will be hosted and explored
  • Help shape the business and how we will grow

At mavis, we want to increase access to forward-thinking, open-minded, progressive workplaces, for all talented individuals regardless of background. We care about equal opportunities and we encourage you to apply if you believe you could make valuable contributions to this position.
