Fashion Revolution is recruiting a Head of Design who will be responsible for the look, feel and execution of our online and offline campaigns and materials. You will be expected to design exceptional work covering both print and digital outputs. Working with the Creative Director and the Global Coordination Team, you will be in charge of creative elements across a range of ongoing and future projects. We use our materials to help people think differently about what clothes they buy and where they come from, raising awareness about issues in the fashion industry and inspiring people to take positive action.

You will be producing artwork, graphics, logo ideas, layouts and templates for both print and digital and seeing these designs and concepts through to print or online publication stage. Products will be both long term and collaborative in their approach, i.e. creating the branding and online assets Fashion Revolution Week, branding a series of videos for Youtube, design of our biannual fanzine, as well as ongoing design such as quotes, images and statistics for Instagram.

Your role will entail working with stakeholders from across the fashion industry, academia, NGOs, unions and beyond and with contractors, juniors and interns working for Fashion Revolution. It may also involve liaising and project managing external design and web agencies and contractors. You will be working across a number of ongoing grant-related projects, some of which will entail liaising with other members of the grant consortium and representing Fashion Revolution in online and physical meetings around communications and design issues.

The role is 3 to 5 days per week, flexible depending on the candidate, their skills and availability for work. You will mostly be working remotely but you must have the ability to attend meetings in London with the team and with stakeholders when required (estimated once or twice a month)

Required Skills and Attributes

• A proven ability to create outstanding design with an eye for layout, colour and typography.
• The ability to take abstract creative concepts and turn them into deliverable plans
• A strong understanding of brand development across different platforms
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to liaise with suppliers, stakeholders and contractors to ensure timelines, deliverables and quality are achieved. Brief print and digital suppliers and negotiate quotes.
• A positive, proactive, can do attitude.
• Proficient across a range of software, including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, etc. and up to date with new technology
• Self-motivated with the ability to work flexibly, on your own initiative and as part of a team. Ability to delegate, select and interview juniors and interns, and lead a small team
• In depth understanding of design, copy and online communications practice, strategy and best practice
• A strong aesthetic and an interest in fashion trend forecasting.
• The ability to multi task, prioritise and manage your own workload while working to deadline and still maintaining a professional approach.
• The ability to work to budgetary and grant restrictions on projects. and feel comfortable updating Creative Director on any unforeseen issues which may have an impact on cost.

• Ability to measure impact and KPIs of digital and social media content
• Film editing or animation skills
• App Design
• UX Skills, knowledge of web design

• A portfolio which includes both print and digital products
• Minimum of 2 years industry experience

Job Details

Hours: 3 to 5 days a week depending on skills, permanent position.
Salary: c. £32k a year pro rata depending on experience
