Hurst Media Company, an independent media company which specialises in contract publishing, is seeking a Design and Production Assistant to get involved with our portfolio of titles.

You will be expected to work across our range of publications, which are distributed with both the national press and on the newsstand. These include our flagship title Celebrity Secrets, which is distributed in OK! magazine bumper packs, Be Your Own Boss, which is distributed with The Evening Standard and The Countryside Experience and Arts, Antiques and Collectibles, which are both distributed with The Telegraph.

This is a junior position which will involve you working alongside and assisting our Production Manager and Designer on a variety of tasks.

Responsibilities will include:
- Designing media packs
- Sending out advert specifications to advertising partners
- Copy chasing and managing deadlines for all the advertising material
- Designing adverts and advertorials
- Preflight supplied artwork for print suitability and size
- Designing for web and social media
- Assisting in managing website content
- Designing editorial spreads for our newsstand and national press titles
- Preparing files for printing
- Assisting in getting a variety of publications to press
- Assisting in the upkeep and management of the production schedule
- Participating in product development
- Communicating thoroughly across all departments to ensure productivity and efficiency
All this means strong organisational and communication skills are essential to the role.

This is the perfect position for someone who is looking for a junior role and wanting to start his or her career in media. Ideally, you will have a degree in a relevant subject from a good university, and experience in working in a publishing environment will be advantageous.

We are looking for an energetic, driven individual with a passion to take our publications to the next level. Candidates are expected to be familiar with our titles and the celebrity lifestyle magazine sector in general.

Skills and experience required:

- A degree in Graphic Design or a relevant subject
- Strong Adobe creative suite skills (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro)
- Comfortable using a WordPress CMS
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS would be advantageous but not essential
- Video editing would be advantageous but not essential
- A strong knowledge of graphic design and print production
- Understanding of colour management
- Understanding of PDF management
- High level of precision and attention to detail
- Confident, outgoing personality
