One Third Stories is a high-growth start-up that inspires kids to love foreign languages. We do this by creating wonderful books that start in English and end in a different language, delivered each month as part of a subscription box. We’re looking for a graphic designer to come and help make products that children love and create beautiful assets for social media so that everybody knows about them.

One Third Stories was started by two friends as a passion project a few years back. We’re still a small team, but these days we work with amazing illustrators, authors, translators, narrators and teachers to create good old-fashioned bedtime stories that give children access to the wonderful world of foreign languages.

You’ll be creating things for just about every area of the company, but with a particular focus on marketing followed by pitching in with product development. You can handle a whole project from start to finish and you’re looking for an opportunity where you can really make an impact and have a huge amount of creative freedom.

This job will be for you if…

You’re a whizz with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and you’ve got some killer photography skills to boot.
You’re a self-starter with a track record of taking things from ‘just an idea’ to ‘WOW. That looks amazing!’ without needing to be prodded and poked by a manager.
You’ve got experience creating assets that stop people in their tracks as they scroll through their newsfeed or induce some serious Instagram envy.
You’re excited about the challenge of building on our young (and very yellow) brand, putting your own stamp on it and making it consistent across the business.
You want to get involved in building a product that helps thousands of children start their language learning journeys.
You love learning new things and don’t mind mucking in wherever another pair of hands is needed. We’re a small startup so flexibility is absolutely essential.

Day to day you will be…

Conceptualising and producing beautiful long-term marketing campaigns with a consistent brand theme across a growing number of channels including Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and display ads.
Keeping tabs on the sort of creatives other brands are putting out there and using this research to inspire your own designs.
Designing beautiful leaflets, flyers, inserts, magazine ads, and all other things printed to go in our subscription boxes, in other people’s subscription boxes, and just about anywhere else you can think of.
Making fun, vibrant organic content for our social channels. Printable activities, infographics, those fancy lookin’ inspiring quotes...Anything that adds value to our followers.
Designing activity books, flashcards, certificates and all manner of fun, language learning accouchement to go in our subscription boxes.
Making us look good- from our website to our business cards to our boxes, there’s a tonne of things that could be improved by someone with a good eye, excellent adobe skills, and a willingness to turn their hand to anything.

If you have this that would be great (but no worries if not)...

Experience with Wordpress and an understanding of HTML and CSS
Some experience filming and editing videos
Experience designing beautiful, quirky products for children
