We are looking for a motion designer to join the video team at Studio Moross. A formal qualification is not required, many of our motion team are self taught with a design or illustration background.

We are looking for someone who is well versed in After Effects specifically, someone who enjoys designing workflows, keeping organised and finding efficient ways to create through scripts and plugins. We hope to find someone with 2-3 years in a moving image role. Someone who maybe feels they haven’t been able to flex their creative muscles in their current job, or someone who is looking for a supportive team to work with after a period of freelancing.

Your portfolio will be varied with attention to detail. We aren’t looking for perfection, but we want bold, strong ideas and well told stories. It may contain animation, live action, video experiments, but a strong eye for syncing music and visuals is key. We’d love to see some strong motion design skills too, if you have a very technical project that isn’t great looking we want to see it!

You don’t need to be slick across the board, DIY and self initiated projects are just as important to us. We do a lot of our work in house so if you are a good all rounder we encourage you to apply.

Job Role

You will primarily be working on music videos, title sequences, broadcast design, live visuals, shorts, behind the scenes, commercials and installations.
Designing and writing pitches and treatments with the team.
Animation and motion design
Contribution to the early creative processes for moving image and design.
Assist in the production of video projects, communicate with client and organise third parties.
Contribution to edit, and post production (both in house and 3rd party).
Communication and meeting with bands, management, record labels and brands to relay ideas, collect and respond to feedback.
Conform and delivery of versions for client approval and for online use.
Motion graphics skills essential for titling, and graphic animation.

Excellent skills in After Effects, plus supporting software such as Adobe Premiere, Illustrator and Photoshop. A base set of Cinema 4D skills would be a welcome bonus but not required.

We hope to find someone who has experience in design and/or illustration, so to be able to contribute to the visual side of the projects we manage in house. We want you to feel just as comfortable moving between the style frames and the animation.

You will be working closely with our small but powerful team. We work quickly and often manage multiple projects at once so it helps if you can multitask and run projects simultaneously.

This job will bring exciting opportunities to develop creative and then implement it with the support of the rest of the team.

About Us

Our open and fair office culture is an imperative part of the fabric that makes up Studio Moross. At the office you can often find young talent working as part of the team, who are nurtured through internships, work experience and mentorship programs. We use a non-hierarchical approach to project assignments and an unconventional hiring process in order to combat inequalities in the workplace.

We recognise that the creative industry is notorious for being a stressful environment with long, unsociable hours – often resulting in an unhealthy office culture. So we implement shorter more efficient working days, leading to increased productivity and an all-around happier team. The well-being and safety of staff are just as important as the work we produce. Any work outside of the 8 hour day is paid as overtime, in addition to the base salary.

Studio Moross is devoted to acknowledging and implementing diversity within the company. Director, Kate Moross uses their platform to speak and write in the aims of, in Kate’s case, uplifting the voices of non-binary and LGBTQI+ people in the creative industry. Studio Moross makes a conscious effort to address imbalances within the creative world by challenging all forms of oppression. Understanding higher systematic forces at play and hiring accordingly is crucial to their core values.
