Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival is looking for a full-time Designer to provide excellent graphic design and print production for the year round programme of Brighton Dome, the annual Brighton Festival and across the organisation.


The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a busy design environment whether employed or freelance; be a creative ideas generator demonstrating excellent typography skills, visual literacy, graphic sense and have a broad appreciation of, and ideally experience of working in the arts. You will also be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people internally and externally and help manage the workload of any freelance design support. This role will uniquely help deliver needs for the grand re-opening of Brighton Dome’s refurbished venues in 2019.

Design
• To produce creative ideas that have an integrated approach and work across all discipline and formats
• To art-direct, commission or create photography, illustration, film and animation and any other design or artistic practice that answers the brief
• To create brand and campaign work for ‘event’ and ‘non-event’ projects across the organisation
• To confidently discuss and clarify briefs with internal departments
• On occasions create project and campaign style guidelines
• To present work clearly and persuasively to internal partners as well as external stakeholders
• To work on multiple concurrent projects and always meet deadlines by managing time and the design task workload effectively
• To motivate the Junior Designer and oversee this role and its workload
• On occasion to work with external agencies e.g. signage, branding, catering consultants
• To provide final artwork to our suppliers and maintain good relationships with them
• To source appropriate images for publicity and gaining correct accreditation and permissions
• To select and advise on the appropriate format, paper and finish for publicity materials
• To ensure print and publicity items produced are appropriate for intended audience.
• To ensure design and publicity materials are of highest quality, cost effective and delivered in a timely manner
• To keep abreast of the latest design technology and trends, and be keen to drive change when necessary
• To oversee the design workload via the ‘design planner’
