As Senior Digital Designer you’ll help take us on a creative journey to deliver big bold ideas. You’ll specialise in motion graphics / animation and producing beautifully crafted, amazingly relevant brand moments. You’ll be able to judge an idea for both its beauty and is commercial potential ensuring effectiveness, innovation and craft. Your role will translate deep consumer understanding into robust and meaningful digital marketing solutions that meet key business objectives.
Day to day

  • Interpret design briefs to generate fresh ideas, develop concepts and manage design intent through development and build
  • Evangelise design and tell great stories framed in a business context. Articulate vision and values — both those of Virgin Atlantic Airways (VAA) and those of our customers in order to reframe and inform the companies direction.
  • Integrate design with a desire to experiment and explore new ideas in the digital space.
  • Aid definition of VAA’s brand portfolio today and in the future, whilst demonstrating and building collaborative relationships with all core team members and drive a problem solving, future focused way of working, with an ability to engage and inspire the wider organisation. 
  • Successfully work within cross-functional teams to deliver engaging and stimulating content for Virgin’s digital channels.
  • Generous with your ideas, skills and thinking, sharing your inspiration with your team.
  • Support the end to end design process, steering team members through design development and build stages to ensure execution fits design idea
  • Identify and flag project risk and challenge when the project's development is in jeopardy. Advise and assist in getting the project back on track, even when this means fundamentally changing the existing criteria.
  • Provide support and creative direction to internal departments and external organisations / agencies on the use of the design guidelines, logos and images.
  • Provide strong and inspired leadership within a team of designers, copywriters and creative artworkers, promoting and maintaining strong employee morale.
  • Establish high expectations for the team with regard to performance and brand values. Setting clear project performance expectations, accountabilities and feedback.

About you

  • To be successful in this role you'll have proven experience in delivering brilliant ideas in digital marketing environments, with knowledge of recognised design industry tools and platforms (e.g. After Effects, Premiere Pro. In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • You'll have a problem-solving approach to design work with the ability to identify
  • creative and innovative solutions, whilst being a curious idea led design innovator who strives to push boundaries.
  • As a strong conceptual thinker you'll have the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely at senior level and have the ability to identify new styles and design industry trends.
  • Experience in rolling out brand identity assets and also smaller communication design projects within short timeframes is essential. Experience of sound and music editing is favourable alongside good know-how of lighting techniques. With a solid understanding of the strengths and limitations of various digital channels, you'll have a deep
  • understanding of how brands emotionally connect with people, and how to define the most relevant connections people are seeking to create with our brand.
  • You'll have the ability to recognise marketing objectives and how the use of digital media can support marketing requirements. You'll possess the ability to turn work around quickly when necessary with excellent communication skills and the ability to relay proposed design solutions to stakeholders who may not have a design background.
