Designing for the complex issues of trust and digital rights in services is an emerging area for design.

We’re looking for a Designer to join IF. You will have strong skills in crafting user journeys, service diagrams and prototypes that meet people's needs. Help us design and test what it takes to make trusted services in collaboration with our clients. You'll work with a talented team, solve difficult design problems for emerging technologies and work on things that really matter.

You are someone who

  • Enjoys crafting user journeys, prototyping and testing services
  • Has experience designing for a live service
  • Understands how digital services are built
  • Knows how to make decisions based on research available
  • Can visualise, articulate and solve challenging technology and data problems
  • Makes technical and complex information and language accessible
  • Enjoys taking an active lead in shaping the direction of projects and inspiring their colleagues
  • Is happy collaborating with others and working self-directed
  • Is good at prioritising to work across multiple projects at once
  • Has strong written and verbal communication

Your responsibilities will be

  • To drive and direct experiences that bring together people's needs and project objectives
  • Create and rapidly iterate prototypes in paper, wireframes and code
  • Create assets that communicate the project intent to the team and client
  • Plan and participate in project workshops
  • To identify rational user journeys and where complexity can be removed

  • Write regularly about our work (blog posts, newsletter)
  • Represent IF by giving external talks and attending events
  • Present work at show and tells for feedback, and offer constructive feedback to other presenters
  • Take part in user research
  • Help set-up and take-down events, exhibits and meetups


  • Salary is dependant on experience
  • This is a permanent role
  • London based (zone 1), full time
  • 20 days holiday plus Bank holidays, and additional time off in August and December
