The company

Portland is a fully integrated communications consultancy trusted by some of the highest profile organizations, governments and individuals in the world with global offices in Washington DC, New York, Singapore, Doha and Nairobi, as well as in London. We are pioneers in integrated communications campaigns help clients manage their reputation, improve their visibility and media coverage – and deliver global communications campaigns across multiple platforms. Our teams of experienced and multilingual consultants invest time to understand clients from the inside out, work with them to set clear strategic direction, and then bring the whole of Portland’s abilities to bear to deliver their objectives. At Portland we never rest on our laurels; we constantly strive to improve our work and be at the forefront of the industry.

The team

As part of our central Content & Brand team (which brings together design, web development, and online / interactive), you will work with account teams across the business to deliver their client and marketing requirements.

The role

Portland is looking for a creative, collaborative and talented Presentation Designer to work in our in-house content creation unit, Content & Brand. Portland’s Content & Brand team draws together writing, research, design, brand strategy, web development, data visualisation and video production, to produce powerful creative content. Our integrated team supports clients across Portland, producing content and collateral for public affairs, communications and stakeholder campaigns.

The ideal candidate has exceptional PowerPoint skills and will be responsible for ensuring that key presentations are clear, professional and on-brand, so that information is displayed clearly and effectively – whether working on existing slides to ensure they are well laid-out, clear and consistent, or taking a team’s initial concepts and providing a range of creative options from scratch.

As well as building a PowerPoint deck, the designer will also produce accompanying charts, diagrams and illustrations and undertake basic photo editing (for example re-sizing or re colouring) for images included in slides.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with account teams to ensure that all branded presentations are created to a high standard
  • Creating images, charts and infographics that more effectively communicate key messages and which can be incorporated into presentations
  • Managing Portland’s PowerPoint template library and keeping it up to date
  • Training staff on the day-to- day use of the templates to ensure that everyone has the ability to produce basic presentations themselves, and explaining PowerPoint features and design principles to colleagues at every level, from Junior Account Executive to Partner
  • Have experience in a similar presentation–focused design role, ideally within a corporate or B2B environment.
  • Be a master of PowerPoint and excellent working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite. Additional presentation software and GIF animation is a plus.
  • Ability to craft excellent presentations from scratch, with a portfolio to prove it.
  • Have an eye for clean, consistent design
  • Proficiency in collaboratively bringing ideas to life through creative visuals and mock ups.
  • Be comfortable working in a busy, fast-moving communications environment – with the ability to work on multiple projects at once to competing deadlines.
  • Experience of working with corporate brands, and the ability to work to brand guidelines.
  • Degree in design is preferred.

Salary and Benefits
Salary: Competitive plus a generous benefits package.
