Top Publishers is seeking an exceptional senior graphic designer, with a strong knowledge of print as well as digital. The designer will be primarily working on The Gentlewoman magazine, as well as involved in the design development and production across Top Publishers’ additional title, Fantastic Man, and projects across the group.

The position requires excellent design and typographic skills, a sensibility for photography and layout along with meticulous attention to detail. The ideal candidate has four to five years experience as a professional graphic designer, impeccable organisational skills and a positive and flexible attitude combined with a commitment to delivering within tight deadlines. The ability to follow directional designs under guidance as well as working independently is key.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop and execute designs and layouts to completion for the magazines and other media, under the guidance of the creative director and art director
Oversee production for quality control through concept development to print
Executing technical print production elements including managing the magazine(s) through pre-press, proofing, pagination, and press passing
Working with the commercial team to develop and execute special print formats, arranging inserts and special print instructions
Creative research into design and graphic ideas and treatments
Working with the commercial and editorial teams to develop and create client presentations and partnership materials
Work with the creative team to execute the titles’ partnership design materials
Provide regular updates to the necessary stakeholders as to work progress, and meet deadlines according to project schedules
Maintain the design language of each title respectively throughout all media created

Degree in graphic design. At least 4 to 5 years experience as a professional graphic designer
Impeccable typography and image layout skills. Thorough attention to detail
Ability to take creative lead and follow design briefs
Thorough knowledge of the magazine production, editing and print process is essential. Experience at a magazine beneficial
Solid experience supervising printers and suppliers, press passing is essential.
Solid presentation and communication skills
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Flexible, highly driven, self-motivated and punctual
Ability to work in a fluid environment and under tight deadlines
Ambition to learn, support and be part of a creative team
A strong interest in design, fashion, art, architecture and print media
Excellent written and spoken English
Full proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat
Valid UK/EEA work permit

Familiarity with design software: Sketch, LiveSurface
Knowledge of programming for web and digital platforms: HTML, CSS, jQuery
