Studio Manager

Design Culture is looking for a Studio Manager to join us and play a vital role in our team.

We're looking for an exceptional administrator, someone that's extremely well organised, confident, professional, articulate and energetic. You’ll be a vital part of the team, managing the studio day-to-day, planning and administrating the studio workflow, from estimating to invoicing and everything in between. And you’ll be continually supporting and facilitating the creative team using great organisational and motivational skills.

Key responsibilities include: Managing the studio:
We use a number of tools – such as Asana, Xero and Harvest – to manage projects from the initial enquiry to completion. Some experience in these would be beneficial, but full training will be given in the job. You will need to demonstrate an exceptional level of attention to detail across all you do – understanding initial client requests, establishing the scope of work, financial accuracy when estimating and invoicing projects, developing schedules and ensuring the creative and development teams deliver to deadlines.
You will need to update both the internal team and external clients on the status of project work and provide regular updates. You'll be able to articulate your views and recognise what's important to achieve a successful outcome. You will need to empathise with both clients and the studio team through more challenging situations. You’ll be driven by a desire to continually improve the efficiency of the studio in how it runs day-to-day.

Client management: Building and maintaining client relationships is key to our growth. You'll be front of house, meeting clients at the door, setting up meetings, discussing project details. Much of this activity will be telephone based, so you'll need to have a confident, articulate manner and be comfortable talking to new people.

Supplier liaison: We work with a number of suppliers in different areas, such as professional printers, photographers or copywriters. You will need to quickly build and maintain relationships, gather estimates and negotiate prices and delivery schedules.

Office management: The role also covers more general office administration – from answering phones to taking in the post. You'll be responsible for all office procurement, sourcing supplies, arranging deliveries and booking trains and taxis etc. We're looking for someone who's as happy to manage the day to day things that need doing around the studio as they are at getting stuck in on larger, more involved tasks.

Driving the team: You’ll be a central part of the team – highly personable, with a positive attitude and lots of energy to keep the team motivated and working well together. You'll be working with direction but under your own initiative much of the time. You'll be expected to work closely with the rest of the team on studio projects and report to the two Directors. This is a real opportunity for the right person to shape the role to be their own and make a big difference to the studio and everything we do.

Essential Skills and Experience: To apply for this Studio Manager role, you should be/have:
• Experience working in an office in an administrative role
• Highly organised and proactive
• Mathematical accuracy and eye for financial detail
• Self starter, with ability to manage and prioritise a high number of concurrent tasks
• Exceptional written and verbal skills
• Highly personable and professional
• Excellent social and networking skills
• Positive attitude and energetic approach to working in a team
• Good Microsoft Office skills and Adobe Acrobat

• Knowledge or experience of the sectors we work in – culture, charity, education and healthcare
• Understanding of print processes
• Understanding of design and digital (web design/dev and social media)
• Knowledge of Xero, Harvest, Asana
