Junior or Middle-Weight 3D Designer

London, salary commensurate with experience

We strongly encourage people of colour, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and non-binary people and individuals with disabilities to apply. Strata is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes everyone to our team.

Based at our London office in the heart of vibrant Soho, Strata’s design team work to bring communications alive across live events, experiential, print, digital and presentation platforms. We produce designs that get clients' messages across with an appropriate and strong visual impact. Ours is a fast-paced industry, often with short lead times and the need for quick and efficient turn-around without compromising on quality.

We are looking for a Junior or Middleweight 3D Designer, with strong visualisation skills and an enthusiasm for experiential and live events.

Someone with at least 2 year’s agency experience, or perhaps someone from an in-house design team eager to move agency side. A 3D Designer who is a strong ‘all-rounder’, equally at home with conceptual pitch work as they are with producing final designs prior to construction. The ideal candidate should be highly organized with meticulous attention to detail, remaining unflappable under the pressure of tight deadlines. The ability to problem solve and proactively work to find effective solutions to creative challenges, often budgetary led, is a key skill.

We are purposefully wanting to explore portfolios across Junior and Middle-weight level as this is a new role within the agency. You will be the only permanent 3D Designer within the creative studio and the responsibility (and expectations) of the role will flex to best suit your level of experience and skill-set. To date we have worked with a pool of 3D design talent and will continue to do so but we are excited about the opportunity to start to develop an exceptional house style and adopt an even more agile response to the high volume of briefs we receive. You will be supported in your development whatever entry level and we see this as an exciting opportunity for the right candidate.

Design input is required for a huge variety of products and activities, including:
• Conference and Exhibition environments
• Experiential, pop-up and retail environments
• Use of design skill to contribute to our own communications i.e. website, credentials and presentation materials,
speculative briefs and internal employee comms
• Fully embrace the opportunity to use any ‘downtime’ on self-initiated projects to research and develop concepts and
ways of working to benefit the wider agency aligned to our company ambitions

Day to day tasks will include, but are not exhaustive to:
• Ability to take a brief (from a variety of Strata project owners i.e. Creative Director through to a Project Manager) and
translate it into an exciting and feasible solution – detailing the evolution first through moodboards, then scamps and
finally renders, ensuring the project owner is on board throughout the creative process
• Familiarity with designing conference or exhibition style solutions for both corporate blue-chip clients such as those
within IT, Electronics, Pharmaceutical and Banking, as well as pop-ups, experiential spaces and retail store
environments for more consumer focused brands in fashion, lifestyle and sports
• Understanding of diverse markets and how environments and touch-points within these can successfully engage
target audiences.

Skills and personal qualities
• Ideally have 2 years’ experience working as a 3D Designer, within an agency or design studio environment
• A relevant Art or Design qualification to degree level
• Conceptual 3D designer who can work as an all-rounder within a creative multi-disciplinary design studio
• Highly adept at concept generation and visualisation
• Good freehand sketching skills
• Can demonstrate a creative and strategic thinking into all aspects of the design process
• Software - Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign specific), Cinema 4D or 3DS Max & Vectorworks (please
note we appreciate you may not have all of these or all at the same level - as expressed we are flexible in order to
find the right candidate)
• A strong passion in brand focused experiential, event, set, interior, industrial or theatrical design
• Imagination and a sophisticated design eye that can adapt to the nuance of a brand and brief. Inquisitive and
passionate about how environments can support and elevate a brands promise.
• A desire to develop and grow within a passionate and positive design studio
• A confident, thoughtful and articulate approach to communicating your creative ideas
• Excellent research skills
• An ability to work both independently with your own initiative and within a team environment
• Great team-working skills with the ability to work and communicate with all levels of staff
• Flexibility and openness to feedback
• An awareness of the competitive business environment in which you work

Desirable but not pre-requisites
• AutoCAD
• Motion graphics experience (After Effects)
• Photography

It is essential to have an interest in:
• Architecture, interior and experiential design
• New developments in design and presentation software
• The creative and live events industries in general
• Design and Lifestyle trends

You should have a keen interest in the world around you, particularly in culture, the arts and technology. We are looking to recruit a person who can think in a unique way and adapt or draw influence from what they have seen and experienced to conceive and produce exciting experiences, environments and solutions for our lifestyle and luxury clients.

A positive upbeat can do attitude is absolutely essential to allow the Studio to function well and produce excellent work for a wide range of clients. You will be joining us at an exciting time as we’ve completed our recent agency merger and look to strengthen existing and acquire new client accounts.
