Encounter Edu is looking for a talented Art Worker who wishes to grow their career and have a national and international impact on how young people learn about their changing world. Encounter Edu designs and runs STEM and Global Citizenship education programmes, which make use of virtual exchange, live broadcast and virtual reality. These technologies create classroom encounters that widen young people’s worldview. Learning is further underpinned by an online library of teacher resources and training. Combined, these provide children with the experience and knowledge to develop as engaged citizens and critical thinkers for the 21st century.

The Role

Under general supervision of the Education Director, the Art Worker is responsible for the design and production of Teacher Resources, Activities and Professional Development deliverables

Working with the Communications & Partnerships Director, the Art Worker will work across brand, print and digital, for outreach and the development of Encounter Edu resources and brand.

Main areas of work:

developing and implementing the existing templated systems for printed resources including liaising when necessary with printers
preparing digital assets for our platforms, channels, and events
managing expedition kit inventory by liaising with our freelance producers
finalize the transfer of photo/video to online digital library

What we are looking for

Working alongside our education team and supporting the communications unit, the ideal candidate will work across brand, print, and digital, for outreach and the development of Encounter Edu and our award-winning educational resources.

Responsibilities include executing digital assets for all our channels and platforms; developing and implementing existing templates for printed resources. Required is the ability to work efficiently within a small team, while manage her/his project outputs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for content and design and enjoy working in process and systems.

2 years of relevant experience including training
Proficiency with Adobe CC. Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
Experience with video editing and Premiere, After Effects an additional bonus
Experience with Microsoft suite
Must have an excellent eye for typography, layout, and branding
Detail oriented to the pixel-perfect implementation
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Excellent knowledge of the print production process
Retouching knowledge an additional bonus
Working knowledge of CMS systems
Good organizational skills with the ability to multitask and keep to tight deadlines
Accountabilities and Duties & Tasks
Art Working (76%: content 46% / design 30%)

Working with the education writers on the production process of educational materials: including booklets, infographics and various ranges of digital media.
Art working of existing design templates for the creation of educational booklets.
Create and illustrate infographics and maps.
Prepare web assets for upload and follow design guidelines for the CMS.
17% Process, logistics, and systems

Oversee the templated systems for design assets.
Keeping the artwork files tidy and follow the established file structure.
Development of print materials for conferences and events.
Liaise with printers for various types of graphics outputs.
Update, organise and manage video and photography libraries on the [de] Media Zone
Oversee expedition kit inventory and support in assistant production liaise with field production teams
7%: Basic photo and video support

Multi-media: generate digital asset templates and content for SM including banners, photo formats, GIFS, short videos
