Based in East London, Substance is a social media focused agency with clients primarily operating within the film and gaming industries.


We’re on the hunt for a talented and hard-working video editor to join our creative team. The work is exciting and varied, so we’re looking for someone who is willing to try new things, get stuck in, and can consistently produce high quality work that will stand out.


You will be part of the team responsible for taking social video to the next level by bringing flair, creativity and proactivity to the offering. You will have a drive to succeed and desire to improve, continually developing and enhancing the quality of our work.

Story-telling comes in all lengths and forms, from 5 seconds to 5 minutes. You should have proven experience in advertising entertainment products; Film, TV or Games with a mastered approach to building narratives and story structures.


You should understand a three-act structure, and how to condense and manipulate to incite intrigue, suspense, multiple tonal shifts and reveals at the appropriate points throughout any length of content.


Role Description:
We are looking for an experienced Video Editor with knowledge of Motion Graphics to join our team and work across a number of different projects.


Editing from feature film and console game source materials, you will be responsible for working on both short and long form video content, creating exciting and engaging edits of the highest quality for use across social media and the digital space.


A good knowledge of software such as After Effects is also required for small pieces of Motion Graphics and Animation work, though your primary tool will be Premiere Pro.


You will be responsible for producing creative and innovative edits to the highest standard and correct technical specification.


As conceivably the most experienced editor in our team, you will be the source of expertise for video and audio editing within our studio of graphics led designers. You will provide quality assurance for the video edition output of the studio.


The chosen candidate will be a creative individual with a skill for visual and video storytelling, able to construct a narrative primed for user consumption and engagement


Key Skills & Experience requirements


• Strong experience across Social Media, online and offline media and broadcast, with a show reel to demonstrate.
• Expert knowledge of video codecs, file formats and specs for web and beyond is a must.
• Excellent knowledge of Premiere Pro
• Ability in building sound beds using provided cues as well as broken down audio stems, cobble dialogue lines, recognize the need for and manipulate SFX.
• Use musical structure and audio to enhance story-telling.
• Good knowledge of After Effects
• Knowledge of grading
• Acute attention to detail, creating work across a variety of platforms to a consistently high standard.
• Confident collaborating in a team working with other designers, strategists and project managers
• An understanding of marketing, especially in social media
• An interest in film and TV is a bonus
