We are looking for a highly creative and versatile graphic designer to support our award-winning marketing team. As Marketing Designer/Creative Media Executive, you’ll work on a broad range of marketing materials, assets and advertising – both print and digital.

The role is within the Cornerstone division at Penguin Random House, the UK’s biggest publisher. Authors in our division include: non-fiction blockbusters such as Tim Peake, Tina Turner and Michael Palin, repeat fiction brands such as E L James, Lisa Jewell, James Patterson, Tom Hanks and Robert Harris and literary names such as Harper Lee, Amor Towles (A Gentleman in Moscow) and Tara Westover (Educated). This year we launched #MerkyBooks with Stormzy. We also publish official Star Wars, Minecraft and Netflix books, as well as a business books list.

You’ll work across a diverse range of projects, generating assets from scratch and creating everything from book-proof covers to print and TV advertising, as well as a wide range of ad-hoc design work including presentations, POS and pitch documents.

You’ll be confident in producing and art-working files ready for print and broadcast. Experience in digital and social media design is also crucial, as you will be expected to create assets for online and digital display ads, both static and moving image.

You don’t need to have worked in publishing before but experience in a similar field or in a design studio for an entertainment brand would be beneficial. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated but also collaborative and flexible and able to manage their time effectively.

You’ll have an exceptional design eye, good typographic skills and strong communication skills, creative flair and a keen interest in social media and advertising trends. You will be able to quickly translate briefs and business needs into engaging visual content and be comfortable working across a range of styles – from literary to commercial projects.

You’ll be fluent in the use of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator), Keynote and PowerPoint for Mac. Experience in creating motion graphics using After Effects would be highly preferable and the ability to do quick edits in Final Cut (or similar) along with an interest in photography would be a bonus.
