We are a vibrant and friendly office with a start-up atmosphere, in Bermondsey London SE1. We work hard during the day, but often head out after work for team socials. We’re well established running the UK’s largest digital matching platform for volunteering roles - used by 60K charities and nonprofits which has been in operation since 2000.

The Team

As part of the Product team you'll be working on the UK’s leading experience and rewards marketplace for social good, helping to deliver our product and services to some of the biggest brands in both the commercial and non-profit sectors. You’ll be involved from planning through to execution, becoming an ever-present advocate for the user. You'll help the team to make informed design decisions, placing the needs of the user and the business at the centre of every piece work.
The Role

As a UX Designer you are essential to the development and continued rollout of our new platform. This is a great opportunity for you to make your mark on the transformation of the UK’s leading volunteering brand into a multi-purpose, multi-market proposition. it is a pivotal role in the business and you will draw on your breadth of UX design knowledge to influence and lead many product decisions.

Key responsibilities

Use data and customer insight to identify opportunities to improve our customer journey and user experience, working with the product and design team to define solutions and prioritise into the roadmap
Create concept sketches, user flows, wireframes and prototypes to bring the solutions to life in a seamless and intuitive journey
Conduct user research and testing for our digital customer journey and test new concepts to validate hypotheses and iterate on solutions
Support and input to A/B testing plans
Create fully annotated UX specs to guide design and development
Ensure we deliver user centred, consistent and engaging brand and experience that deliver our aims
Build relationships across the business in order to support and influence all aspects of the customer experience

Collaborate with our development team, working in an agile methodology, to ensure the implementation meets the design specification
Conduct diligent cross-browser and cross-device design to ensure all releases meet strict acceptance criteria
Build understanding of our platform and CMS, current capabilities, limitations and future roadmap opportunities

Any other duties as required by the Product Director

You are…..

Fluent in industry software including Invision, Axure, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud
An excellent verbal and written communicator and a team collaborator
Keen to be client-facing, supporting the presentation of latest designs and prototypes.
Naturally collaborative, ego-free and able to give and take design critique constructively.
Familiar with agile methods and terminology, and/or general software dev environments.
Skilled at designing and prototyping new features, and enhancing and optimising existing features based on user insights.

Excited about new opportunities as the product evolves in response to user and client feedback
Eager to identify work to do and learn; focused on finding solid solutions to problems.
Passionate about human-centred visual design and communication, supported by a broad knowledge of common user interface design patterns, iconography, typography and colour theory
Effective with collaborating alongside engineers, strategists and other skilled team members in order to respond to the varying constraints of each project
Keen to drive and justify your design decisions using research data, design principles, prototypes and resulting user-testing insights

Education and experience
A degree in user experience, interaction design, information architecture or related field
Proven experience delivering user-centred design projects across multi-function disciplines
Ability to own and articulate UX and design decisions
Excellent knowledge and experience in designing for responsive digital products
3+ years experience in a production environment
Ability to quickly learn new digital design tools and software applications
Excellent time management skills, with a proven ability to deliver to tight deadlines
Ability to contribute consistently and positively in a high-paced, fast-changing and sometimes unpredictable work environment
Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS
Passionate about new technology, contemporary user interface design and the user experience
Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
