The role

The Lead Global Designer is the ambassador for the company’s visual identity, delivering high quality print and digital outputs that create a coherent and consistent brand experience across all territories.

The Lead Global Designer will be an expert graphic designer with experience in executing marketing projects from conception to production, alongside managing a small design team. We are a busy team with internal clients around the world, so the Lead Global Designer must be an astute project manager with strong organisational and communication skills, and they must be excited by new challenges and the opportunity to be a creative influencer.

The role will report into the Marketing Director and will lead the design team – reviewing their work and collaborating daily with our local teams around the world. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced international marketing team.

This is a full-time contract role for 11 months, based in Spike Island, Bristol.

The Company

Ramsay Fairs is the parent brand of Affordable Art Fair, PULSE Art Fair and Will’s Art Warehouse. The main focus of this role is Affordable Art Fair, but the Lead Global Designer would provide design support for all 3 brands.

Affordable Art Fair and PULSE Art Fair are global art event brands. Established 20 years ago, the Affordable Art Fair is the leading marketplace for affordable contemporary art under a ceiling price of £6,000 / €6,000 / $10,000. Last year, over 185,000 art-lovers visited an Affordable Art Fair in one of 10 cities around the world, including London, New York, Hong Kong, Amsterdam, Brussels and Hamburg. In 2017, the company launched an online marketplace where people discover and fall in love with art every day, and this growing rapidly.

PULSE Art Fair, founded 15 years ago, takes place during Art Miami Week offering a curated selection of contemporary art.

Will’s Art Warehouse was founded in 1996. It’s based in London and holds regular exhibitions in store, as well as exhibiting at art fairs globally.

Key responsibilities

• Creating the key advertising image for each Affordable Art Fair based on our ‘art unwrapped’ concept. This involves organising approx. 5 photoshoots during the contract period – from developing moodboards, liaising with our stylist and photographer, advising global teams on final image selection after each shoot, briefing retouches in post-production and creating final design layout templates
• Using Basecamp to collect design requests, managing the in-house design team, executing and overseeing the design, production and supply of marketing materials (including print and digital adverts, fair catalogues, flyers, posters, invitations, stationery and PDF sponsorship packs) as well as exhibition materials (such as application forms, exhibitor manuals, signage, banners, tote and carrier bags, tape etc)
• Using AfterEffects and Adobe Animate to create moving image and html ads
• Acting as brand guardian to ensure all marketing material, including social media posts, is of a suitable quality and on brand
• Reviewing the brand experience onsite at our fairs
• Ensuring that all design material is produced on time and within budget
• Contributing ideas for new marketing and internal projects as and when required
• Occasional print buying, including scheduling, budgeting and selecting printers

Although this is a lead role, it will also be necessary to support the design team by picking up design and artworking tasks.


• Proven track record as an established Senior Designer (or similar role)
• Portfolio of completed design projects
• Passion for design, with a keen eye for typography and layout
• Expert Mac skills in InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Excellent time management and ability to prioritise / multi-task
• Excellent communication skills
• Attention to detail
