We are looking for a talented and passionate Senior Graphic Designer to work within our team in London.

Barker Langham is a leading cultural consultancy, specialising in the visioning, strategic planning and development of cultural heritage projects. Our head office is in London; our team and projects are based around the world. Our expertise extends across the cultural sector including museums, exhibitions, visitor centres and landscapes. Current clients include a range of high-profile Heritage Lottery Fund projects across the UK, and a range of museum and cultural organisations in Europe, the United States, Russia, Qatar, Oman and the UAE.

The Senior Graphic Designer plays a key role, working as part of a talented graphics team as well as wider team members. The role requires an excellent visual communicator and team player to assist in the creation and design of everyday reports, tenders, presentations and marketing material as well as assisting the Art Director on larger scale design projects for clients. You will be happy juggling multiple projects to meet strict deadlines, whilst maintaining a keen eye for detail.

Main Responsibilities

• Use InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, MS office and other appropriate mediums to produce creative and innovate graphic designs.
• Work very closely with the Art Director on projects of various size and scale.
• Design and assist the development of documents and presentation using templates and style sheets.
• Make sure the design production is always consistent with the brand identity guidelines.
• Assist in the preparation of bids and marketing materials.
• Work directly with the Art Director and the Graphic Designers as well as the wider team members.
• Help the Art Director to manage the design team and the workflow when needed.
• Check printer proofs and amend artwork prior to approval as required.
• Prepare artworks for professional print, applying printer specifications.
• Follow the sign off procedure at each stage of production, including the design sign off with the Art Director.
• Participate in project team meetings internally and externally and be comfortable presenting ideas and designs.
• Maintain accurate files and records.
• Manage personal workflow and schedule.
• Flexible in work hours when necessary.

Skills and Experience

• 4+ years professional experience as a graphic designer, ideally in a similar role.
• A graphic design degree.
• Excellent skills across Adobe CS: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop.
Skills in Power point and MS Word is a bonus.
• An excellent, diverse portfolio of work including layouts/editorials.
• Demonstrated ability in the creation of infographics, and a strong experience working on Indesign templates following brand guidelines.
• Demonstrated ability in creating concepts from scratch and define design principles.
• Attention to detail, Strong aesthetic, knowledge of typography and layout principles.
• An element of team management experience, briefing and guiding junior designers would be beneficial.
• A broad variety of client/project experience.
• An experience working for exhibitions or museums would be beneficial.
• Ability to produce print ready artworks.
• Understanding of the various digital and conventional printing processes.
• Strong written and spoken English skills.
• Flexible, collaborative, and resourceful hands-on approach.
• Ability to work swiftly across diverse projects.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Meeting demanding timescales, whilst maintaining the highest standards.
• Organizational and planning skills.
• Passion for Graphic Design.
• Knowledge or interest in the heritage and culture sector.
• Aware of latest design trends, practices and movements.
• Ability to read or write Arabic would be beneficial.
