This role is central to how IF communicates new ideas of trust, rights and ethics in the digital world we live in.

We’re looking for an empathetic and innovative user experience designer with a strong portfolio of work across digital (both web and mobile) to push our interactive designs to the next level.

Alongside core experience design skills we’d like to find someone who brings another string to their bow. It could be photography, illustration, film-making or something else entirely. However, it will probably be the thing that sets you apart from lots of your peers that brings an extra dimension to your thinking.

This role needs someone who will keep up-to-date on innovations in the design world and bring in outside thinking to stay fresh. But they will also know that good design is not about slavishly following trends: it’s about well-reasoned design decisions built on an understanding of the problem and crafting suitable engaging experiences.

Collaboration is hugely important to us, so we’re looking for someone who is at their best when part of a team. However, this also means having the confidence and ability to take a brief from a sketch to polished delivery with minimal supervision.

As a fast-paced business that’s got big growth plans, we’re also looking for someone who won’t be daunted by a changing environment and is confident working in the open.

You are someone who:

- Champions creative excellence and pushes traditional boundaries
- Uses a range of communication design skills to visualise data as part of projects
- Has strong opinions, loosely held
- Identifies design problems and devises elegant solutions
- Makes strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new functions and features
- Takes a user-centered design approach, rapidly testing and iterating designs

Your responsibilities:

- Sketching and developing ideas using a range of different tools, picking the best medium for the message in order to bring your thinking to life
- Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to develop the storytelling work and design digital products
- Designing and producing supporting artefacts needed to communicate concepts to the team, users or clients
- Contributing to the success of the team, participating in project ceremonies, rituals and delivering project outputs
- Translating concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes, optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces, that lead to intuitive user experiences
- Facilitating the client’s product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital products
- Writing and speaking about your work at IF
