Front-end Developer

Level: Mid-Weight
Contract: Full Time
Based: Exeter
Salary: £28,000 to £30,000

Hambly Freeman are looking for an experienced front-end developer to join our growing team.

The work undertaken within this role is varied and exciting. We regularly collaborate on projects with industry-renowned, London-based design and branding agencies, such as Socio Design, Two Times Elliott, DD London, Mash Creative, Captive Minds and Wolff Olins. Alongside these projects, the successful applicant will enjoy working with clients located both nearby and afar, with work recently undertaken for businesses based in Copenhagen, Dubai and New York.

The candidate should have at least five years experience building responsive websites from supplied design files, using semantic HTML5, jQuery, SASS/CSS and PHP. Experience extracting assets and generating SVGs with Adobe Creative Suite is also required. A working knowledge of WordPress is essential as a key aspect of the role is bespoke WordPress theme development, based on supplied artwork, produced in Adobe CC or Sketch.

The creative director or one of the many design agencies Hambly Freeman collaborates with on a regular basis will provide responsive artwork. Pixel-perfect templates must be developed, with clean, concise code, that adhere to the latest web standards.

This role will require acute attention to detail and the ability to integrate the latest front-end technologies into your development tasks on a regular basis. Our latest projects have required use of Greensock, ScrollMagic and Ajax for elegant page transitions and efficient content delivery. Whilst experience with these technologies is not required, a desire to learn and push the boundaries of your development skills is crucial.

The successful candidate will have the ability to manage their own projects and workload, be comfortable with communicating directly with clients and keen to integrate themselves into a growing and experienced team, based in our Exeter studio. A three month probationary period will lead to permanent employment, if successful.

We are centrally located in an attractive part of the city, allow flexible working hours (within reason) and promote a happy and relaxed atmosphere, whilst encouraging a dynamic approach to each task and creative problem solving.

Strictly no recruitment agencies.
