Waste is an independent digital creative agency founded in 2006 on the principle of cutting out unnecessary agency fluff in favour of urgency, expertise and a no-fuss attitude. We call this approach ‘Maximum Digital. Minimum Nonsense.’

With offices in London and Los Angeles, we employ 60 specialists covering Strategy, Creative, Social & Web Content, Advertising, Digital Experiential, DOOH, UX and SEO.

Our client list includes Supercell, the mobile gaming giant, for whom we deliver player acquisition and retention built around community listening and high-speed, high-quality content creation. Other entertainment clients are Nintendo, Sega, Warner Brothers, Turner and Ubisoft.

What we’re looking for:

Waste is looking for a data-savvy Digital Strategist to join their growing Strategy team.

The Strategy Department help connect the dots between brand challenges, customer needs and cultural trends. We’re curious about the world. We love to know what makes people tick. We look for relationships and motivations that go beneath the surface and get to the heart of consumer behaviour. We ask weird questions. We get excited about data. We write simple briefs with inspirational propositions. We analyse our client’s content (and the competition’s) to find out what’s working, what isn’t, and why. We live to fuel game-changing ideas, effective campaigns and killer content.

Waste is experiencing phenomenal growth, so the successful applicant will need to be able to hit the ground running. We’ll offer on the job training and access to APG courses & similar, but this is not a role (or agency) laden with endless processes or hand-holding.

Ideally, your experience and skill set will include:

  • Min. 4 years in digital/content strategy
  • Use of social + web analytics tools
  • Seeking out audience trends & data from a wide array of sources
  • Devising digital and social strategies
  • Writing content reports that measure what matters for the client’s goals
  • Ability to visualise complex data incomprehensible & persuasive ways
  • Writing inspirational creative briefs & running memorable briefings
  • Self-reliance and an ability to own projects & relationships
  • An inquisitive, open & analytical mind
  • Confident and inspirational written & spoken communication
  • Ability to gain the trust and confidence of client contacts & project stakeholders

Supported by the Strategy Director, your role will include:

  • Owning digital & social strategy for clients in retail, gaming, utilities and beyond
  • Running social channel, content & competitor audits
  • Monitoring social analytics & content performance
  • Writing & presenting punchy content reports & optimisation recommendations
  • Influencer identification & outreach
  • Writing inspirational creative briefs
  • Briefing creatives and inspiring them to solve brand challenges with fresh thinking
  • Keeping campaigns on strategy, without being a buzzkill
  • Researching communities, brands, products and markets for new business
  • Seeking out trends and insights via a variety of paid & free tools
  • Helping develop & manage the Junior Strategist & Strategy Interns
