The Role

The comms designer role here spans several areas of the business. Typically tasks will include creating and adapting visuals for the following; Advertisements we post on our performance channels (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Reddit and more), our e-mail and promotional creative, direct mail and packaging, the content we generate for Threads own editorial platform and content for our own social media channels.

As the scope of work will cover various different channels, we’re looking for a designer who is able to grasp our brand and apply it in a considered and consistent way. We’d also welcome someone who, when appropriate, is willing to challenge, innovate and try new ideas, to help us express the Thread mission and aesthetic to the best standard.

The Requirements

The ideal designer for this role is someone who is good at managing their time, has strong attention to detail and is experienced at outputting assets for digital channels. A good eye for photography composition and cropping is a must. A passion for art direction of photography and illustration would be great; we’d love a designer that would contribute to the creative culture within Thread and help us find new collaborators like photographers and illustrators.

Some previous experience of generating visuals for social and online editorial platforms would be ideal, but most importantly they should have general experience adapting imagery and creating layouts, occasionally working with editorial grid systems.

Our ideal candidate is a fast learner with an optimistic attitude that will be able to support our lead designer here, who they will report directly to.

Daily tasks will include, but won’t be limited to:

* Creative art-working + adapting editorial & social content
* Typesetting and editorial layout design
* Basic retouching
* Designing printed promotional materials and packaging.
* Supporting the lead designer with new concept design exploration.
* Communicating and sharing work with the marketing and editorial teams

Technical Requirements

*Proficient knowledge of Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and ideally Google slides.
*Access to own computer/mac and Adobe software.
*Exposure to some motion software would be a plus
