The Make-up Manager will report into the Head of ASOS Studios as part of the ASOS Studios department. The main area of focus will be to provide strong managerial support to the Make-up team and fully support the creative direction by producing the highest standard of make-up with the support of the Make Up Team Leader. This makes previous management experience a necessity for this role. You will be responsible for driving the Make-up Team forward to achieve its strategy, and provide the best e-commerce imagery in the industry.

You will be a focused, driven, hardworking individual that has the maturity and empathy to manage a large team of people. You must be able to remain calm and professional in highly pressured situations while maintaining a positive and proactive attitude. This role demands a strong team player who is eager to learn and develop, and can grasp new information very quickly. You will also be flexible and have the ability to think outside of the box and bring new ideas to the team.

It is vital that you are passionate about photography and fashion, and that you have a solid understanding of current trends and how they relate to the ASOS customer. This will give you the framework to guide your creative team in the right direction.

You will be able to identify with the ever changing requirements of a large studio team. The ideal candidate will have experience of people management, and a solid understanding of Make-up in the fashion/commercial industry

You will also have strong project management skills and the ability to drive all assignments through to completion within deadline. It is vital to build and maintain strong relationships with Senior Management internally and externally to ASOS Studios, meaning you must be outstanding in your communication skills.

What you'll be doing...

Line management of the full time Make Up Team and freelance team across all studios, including MW, WW and unrecognisable shoots
Provide the strongest managerial support to ensure the team have everything they need (support, creative direction and resource wise) to deliver world class e-commerce product pages
Accountability for ensuring the highest standard of make up across all studios consistently, with the support of the Make Up Team Leader and Senior team
Responsibility for delivering the strongest make up creative for our 20 something customer: demonstrating a full understanding of the latest up and coming make up trends in fashion and social media, and ensure these are executed to the highest standard in every shoot
Consistently review team structure, roles and ways of working to ensure the utmost is being achieved of team and process. Work with the management team to ensure efficiencies are achieved
Continually review the creative daily and strategically - spot every opportunity to improve make up direction on each model individually and lead the development of make up creatively across the board for the strongest creative output
Work with the Make Up Team Leader, Hair Manager and Hair Team Leader to provide a professional creative environment which inspires the team and supports the creative for both MW and WW teams to work in
Responsible for all learning, development and training for the Make Up Team. Identifying the needs of individuals and teams and scheduling both internal and external courses. Hold regular workshops to share information between team
Accountability for delivering the strongest weekly team schedule possible for the utmost creative outcome and team development – with the support of the Make Up Team Leader
Continually consider new ways to ensure that the full-time team are creatively refreshing their skills through learning and development
Work with Leads, Model Booking and Pre/Post Production teams to understand the creative requirements that need to be considered to result in the strongest shoots and an efficient department. Implement and communicate findings if required
Continually analyse daily image updates alongside Make UpTeam Leader to give developmental feedback with the aim of delivering the best make up in the industry
Deliver, and see through to completion, projects which contribute directly to the ASOS Studio strategy
Full accountability for the management of the make up budget
Full accountability for the management of all software programmes used by the make up team, including references, server and budget documents
Reviewing make up processes and ways of working to streamline ergonomics. Including but not limited to: internal make up processes and how the make up team works with the studio
Create a team environment where the make up artists are able to communicate with each other effectively and contribute to the success of the team
Encourage an open and honest environment where team members can feel they can QC their own work to continually improve team performance
Set clear objectives for the make up team and ensuring appropriate levels of engagement, feedback and development to continuously improve within their existing job role
Accountable for make up recruitment to oversee the induction and training of all new make up starters
Supporting Head of ASOS Studios with ad hoc projects

Experience
Fashion background and previous studio experience in make up essential
Previous fashion e-commerce/retail experience desirable
Minimum of two years management experience in the fashion industry preferred
Skills
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately with colleagues, freelancers and senior management at all levels.
You must be able to remain calm and professional in highly pressured situations while maintaining a positive and proactive attitude.
This role demands a team player who is eager to learn and develop and can grasp new information quickly.
You will need a keen interest in fashion along with relevant experience in the industry
Computer literate - able to use both word and excel applications on Mac and PC.
Outstanding organisation, time management and prioritisation skills
Strong understanding of current fashion and social trends and the way these relate to the ASOS customer.
Have strong attention to detail in order for you to present the product in the best way possible
Be able to rapidly adapt to change
