About MK21
Located in the heart of Central Milton Keynes, MK21 is a young and fast-paced design & marketing agency. A small and effective team sporting a concoction of various talents and skill sets, our agency is constantly working on all kinds of different projects. No one day will be the same as the next when working here. Global, local and everything in between, our primary goal is to elevate brands and help them communicate effectively with their audiences’ both new and pre-existing.

Variety is the spice of MK21 – the many challenges brought to us by different brands and our answers to them often manifest themselves in a plethora of different ways, including:

Creating branding from scratch, or sometimes improving/expanding on established brands
Designing editorial documents, some huge, some small
Creating lively and personable motion graphics
Designing UI for both apps and websites
Creating content for social media & online advertising
The odd bit of illustration here and there.

About the role
As a Junior Designer you’ll report directly to the Creative Director but can expect to be responsible for executing smaller projects based on briefs set by the account team. It is rare that any two team members will be simultaneously working on the project, so the successful candidate will be self-sufficient and capable of effectively managing their workload and ensuring deadlines are adhered to.

As we are currently a small team, mixing of roles is to be expected. Be it answering the phone, setting up a meeting or simply making a round of cuppas – everybody pitches in where they can.

To reiterate; we work on a diverse range of different projects meaning that the successful candidate will be doing exactly that. We don’t expect you to be an expert in all areas of design, but we certainly expect a certain level of flexibility and a fundamental knowledge of design. We're looking for somebody with the motivation and drive to learn new skills, implementing these skills at an advanced level in due time.

Requirements
Essential
A strong portfolio displaying a variety of work (both digital and print)
Able to operate the core Adobe Creative Cloud suite applications (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) at an advanced level. After Effects would be a major plus but is not essential.
Good organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects at once.
Able to communicate effectively with good English skills both written and spoken.
Good layout skills and attention to detail
A willingness to learn new things and step outside your comfort zone. Comfortable with taking feedback and being critiqued.

Desirable
A design related degree
Knowledge of UI/web design
Previous experience in a design role would be useful but not essential
A sense of humour
