— Project Manager, New Now

Established in 2001, YCN (You Can Now) is a learning network. If you’re passionate about creativity, and helping others fulfil their goals — particularly those at the beginning of their professional journey — we’d love for you to join our central team as a Project Manager and manage colourful, commercial creative projects as part of our New Now programme

— Today, the past and the future

Today, YCN helps creatively driven organisations build capability throughout their teams to support their business goals. We do this by designing and delivering modern and motivating learning experiences that bring people together and get them talking, thinking differently, and trying out new tools and techniques that they can transfer back to their work and teams. We do this in relation to all kinds of topics, and work with a brilliant line up of partners; from big retailers like Dr. Martens and Lush Cosmetics to tech maestros like WeTransfer and Secret Escapes.

But when YCN began in 2001, it was a different (albeit complementary) story. YCN started life in the higher education system, born from a network of universities, colleges and a goal of connecting new talent with industry; so that ideas, knowledge and expertise could be exchanged in mutually valuable ways. As YCN has evolved since 2001, we’ve kept up all of this grassroots, student and graduate focussed activity — for example through our annual student award programme, by visiting educational institutions each year to share insights with students and by connecting emerging talent with industry on a daily basis for live projects and commissions.

Last year we decided to give this next generation talent side of YCN it's own identity — New Now — enabling us to better communicate its past, future and purpose.

We are now looking for a Project Manager to join the team, and support the delivery of the New Now programme, managing key projects within it — and contributing ideas and energy towards its future development.

— The Project Manager opening

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone excited by the chance to support and develop emerging talent, to work with some of the most creative brands and agencies in the business — and to make a real impact on individuals and organisations. You'll need to bring experience of working with clients on live projects that have involved sourcing talent, agreeing costs and seeing things through from start to finish. As you'll see below, we're open minded about the nature of this experience, and its extent — if you feel you could do this job, we'd love to hear from you.

— As a Project Manager your responsibilities will include:

• Helping brands and agencies source and connect with relevant emerging talent for live projects. This could be helping a design agency source as relevant illustrator, or a major retailer to collaborate with new talent for an in-store installation. You'll be managing all aspects from research and costing, to the ongoing delivery of the project to conclusion.

• Identifying and building partner relationships with brands and agencies; sharing opportunities for them to get involved; whether that’s setting live briefs to students or participating in events and other New Now activity.

• Helping to shape and deliver our annual Student Awards event where we bring together 300+ students and recent graduates with industry for a colourful and optimistic evening, focussed on their work and their future.

• Connecting in to the broader day-to-day wok of YCN, and the ways we’re engaging our clients and partners more broadly so that we’re always aware of where valuable overlaps exist.

— You:

As our ideal candidate you’ll have:

• At least 1-2 years experience in a relevant role working directly with clients.

• Experience in costing creative projects.

• A passion for creativity and visual culture.

• Knowledge and appreciation of graphic and illustration styles.

• Evident passion for creativity and a drive to support emerging creative talent.

• Exceptional written, verbal and all-round people skills.

• An enjoyment for bringing groups of people together and joining the dots between them.

• A good insight into the creative industries and consumer culture.

• Good computer skills and familiarity with the obvious programmes and tools.

• A passion for continual learning and helping others to achieve their goals.

• Ideas for where we should be going next with the programme.
