Staff Writer at It's Nice That (One Year Fixed Term)

A part-time position (two days per week) on the editorial team, responsible for writing original stories for the website on a weekly basis. Fixed term of one year.

Job Purpose

  • To join the editorial team in the office for two days per week to help research and source original stories for the website.
  • To contribute to It's Nice That's weekly editorial output by writing 5 Work articles per week and also a News story when required.


  • Culturally astute, with an understanding of the creative industries and with some contacts from the sector as well.
  • An eye for exciting emerging creatives and original work that fits in with It's Nice That's content and tone of voice.
  • A solid understanding of It's Nice That's content and tone of voice, as well as our mission and purpose as a publisher.
  • A team player, willing to accept feedback from editors and work closely with other members of the team when necessary.
  • Prepared to work in a fast-paced editorial environment.

Key Skills

  • Strong writing and proofing skills, with a real eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Solid research skills for finding exciting emerging creatives and creative work that has not been written about lots before.
  • Good interviewing skills, as this role requires regularly interviewing creatives.
  • Able and willing to work quickly, writing 2-3 stories per day of 500-600 words each.
  • PhotoShop skills and prior use of a content management system (CMS) are also desired but not essential.


  • To attend content meetings with the editorial team and bring original ideas for creatives and work we should be writing about.
  • To provide feedback and opinions on the ideas brought to content meetings by other members of the editorial team.
  • To write 2-3 Work articles per day quickly, but also accurately. To also be happy to write a News story if required.

  • Hours: Two days per week (has to include Monday), 9am — 6pm (flexible hours between 8am – 7pm except Fridays)
