Equality Policy

Diversity in the creative industry is still a work in progress. As part of our Equality Policy - We are committed in our journey to eliminating discrimination, encouraging and valuing diversity amongst our workforce.

Cities are known to have more creative businesses and diverse populations, and yet, BAME employees make up only 12.6% of the creative industries workforce.

Added to this, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s "Taking Part' Survey" also shows that engagement with the arts is significantly higher for the upper socio-economic group (84.4% in 2016/17) than the lower socio-economic group (67.4% in 2016/17)

This is why we are encouraging applications from individuals from underrepresented backgrounds in the creative industry. This includes:

  • People from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic backgrounds
  • People from lower socio-economic backgrounds
  • People who have not got a university degree
