Graphic Designer (Midweight to Senior)
Job Description
Who we are:
We are a branding and digital studio that create solutions which actually work, for the most important organisations in our society. Our clients are almost all charities, universities or social enterprises.
Some of our recent projects include:
- Branding for the Chartered Institute of Fundraising
- A website to support students during coronavirus
- Branding and reports for an ambitious new think tank
- An identity for King’s Business School
- A website for Moorfields Eye hospital Charity
- Designing a digital service for a University of Exeter academic study, researching cognitive capabilities in the over 50s
We’re a small but effective team that collaborates constantly. We can handle complex briefs, because all our people operate at a senior level, while being expert in the best practices that produce great creative work.
Who we’re looking for:
We’re looking for a midweight or senior designer with great typography and layout skills, who can develop designs with clarity and high attention to detail. A lot of the projects you would be working on would have a digital component, so experience in Figma would be a big plus – although we think this can be picked up quickly.
This would start as a fixed term contract of three months. Depending on how things develop we may look to extend this and potentially create a full time role. Although we have a studio space in London, we have switched to working remote-first. As such, you’d need to be set up to work in this way. Ideally you will be UK-based, but living close to London is not a prerequisite.
Things you might find yourself doing:
- Prototyping website page templates for a university department, so they can test their effectiveness with users
- Creating a custom typeface to bring a local charity brand to life
- Designing and illustrating a report on gender inequality in international trade
We want to hear from you if you:
- Have strong typography / layout / systems thinking skills
- Have fine attention to detail
- Have strong Adobe suite skills and ideally know Figma
- Are an effective communicator who thrives off working collaboratively
- Have the ability to work to tight deadlines on your own or within the team
What our clients say about our work:
“Perhaps William Joseph’s greatest strength is their ability to combine creativity with their understanding of audiences, both internal and external. They push us to think.”
Dyrol Lumbard, Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford
What our team say about working here:
“Working at William Joseph means being part of a talented team who all love what they do. Everyone’s creative and driven, which is inspiring to be around. I genuinely enjoy coming to work every day.”
