Job Description

The Company

The Brand Identity is an independent graphic design resource with a global reach. We aim to empower the graphic design industry and those operating within it by providing a consistent, diverse and easy-to-use platform, made for all.

On a weekly basis, we publish a refined selection of articles about the best graphic design projects, as well as interviews and insights with the studios, agencies and designers behind them. We also form partnerships with brands we believe in to create bespoke editorial series, and to share products we believe are important and relevant to the graphic design industry. Furthermore, we produce an ever-expanding range of our own products such as books and mockups.

We passionately take pride in valuing quality over quantity and do not believe that only the latest matters; instead we hope to be an inspirational, informative and fundamentally useful resource for everyone interested in the graphic design of the past, present and future.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced, creative, organised and precise individual to lead and manage our editorial department. This will involve deciding which projects, studios and brands we feature on a weekly basis, including choosing from and coordinating our submissions via email. Our editorial content and reputation have been built on curation and taste, and therefore, a thorough understanding and passion for graphic design and its terminology are absolutely essential.

Despite only publishing 12 articles per week, we are constantly managing dozens, if not hundreds, of submissions, content ideas and articles-in-progress. As a result, organisation, time management and the ability to see through the noise are really important. We have a series of established processes and project management systems in place in Notion, which need to be understood, managed and upheld in order for our team to function harmoniously and efficiently – especially as we are a remote team who tries to avoid lengthy and unnecessary meetings.

The role will also involve managing and assisting our small writing team with their weekly activities, as well as writing a small selection of articles. We make sure our articles are consistent, accurate, concise and free of mistakes, therefore a love for grammar and the small details is of the utmost importance. Our articles adhere to semi-strict writing guidelines, and part of the role will be to uphold, as well as improve, them.

Furthermore, as The Brand Identity continues its transition from a blog to a multi-faceted resource, the role will involve working closely with our Founder & Managing Director to develop new and existing content ideas.

The Responsibilities

  • Decide, manage and plan our editorial content on a weekly basis, including choosing from project, typeface, interview and product submissions sent in via email.
  • Manage our small writing team, including planning their workload, reviewing their work and helping them to improve.
  • Write a small selection of articles on a weekly basis.
  • Uphold and improve our writing guidelines and standards.
  • Work alongside our Founder & Managing Director to shape the editorial direction of The Brand Identity.

The Location

This is a remote position, so you are expected to work from home. We are open to applications from anywhere in the world, however, as a British company, fluency in British English is essential. Our core team and office are in Norwich, UK, so local applicants working from our office will be considered.
