Role: Senior Designer (with 2yrs+ experience)

CellarDoor is an award-winning creative agency specialising in hospitality and Food & Beverage (F&B). We have a cross-discipline team specialising in brand, strategy, interior and spatial design, campaign and digital communications across the UK and Middle East.

Whether full restaurant designs, global marketing campaigns or the creating of brand worlds, we challenge ourselves daily to produce world class creative (and want to become famous for it).

Our work is the fusion of insight and imagination. As such everyone in the team is expected to think, read, write, and document ideas that helps create work built on intelligence and not simply designed as a veneer.

In the last 6 months we have worked across Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Pakistan and Dubai, created three new F&B brands and spaces which will open in 2025, launched a global campaigns, won 3 design awards, spoken at events and even managed to renovate our office. It is a busy time.

We work with global brands and startups alike, include Caffe Nero, Compass Group, Honest Burgers along with a wide range of brands across MENA including Pickl, Bonbird and RARE.

Job description

We are looking for an inspiring, experienced Senior Designer to support the output of the studio and ensure we are pushing our creative and deliver projects we are truly proud of.

You will be responsible creating exceptional creative work, that has equal measure of thought and insight as well as rigour to design craft. You will be expected work alongside the Design Director to deliver creative in line with a strategy, against strict timescales with ambitious scope, pushing our work online and in the physical world.

You should have a thorough knowledge of print, production and digital design standards. You will work alongside our inhouse architects, illustrator and animator to build brand worlds that have real world impact.

You must have a keen eye and interest in all areas of design and culture, with agency experience of at least 5 years. We are a small team, but all driven to make a difference and make things the best they can be.

Responsibilities & duties: (what we expect you to do)

  • Supporting a team of designers to deliver exceptional work.
  • Liaising with our Design Director and the Account Management team to ensure briefs are met and projects exceed expectations.
  • Mentoring and upskilling the junior creative team to ensure our work is the highest quality possible and industry leading.
  • Work across a range or projects, from branding, print design, art direction, retouching, campaigns and social.
  • You will be responsible for helping to bring insight and inspiration into all work, through a strong understanding of language, colour, typography, layout, illustration and industry standard production to help the studio create the best work possible.
  • You are expected to continually develop your core skills through a hunger for learning, as well as improve the studio standards and practices through skill sharing.
  • Communication is critical to the successful operation of any studio. You should feel confident to contribute to the entire creative process. Keeping a finger on the pulse of current trends, ideas and innovations that can help our clients grow and achieve their goals.

Typical activities include (not exclusively):

  • Offering input and helping steer creative meetings and sharing ideas
  • Managing design projects from concept to delivery
  • Challenging briefs to create the most impactful work we can
  • Upskilling and training through mentorship and feedback of junior staff
  • Producing innovative and effective designs for all media
  • Strict delivery of considered and well-constructed design
  • Strict adherence to timescales
  • Communicating to give and receive feedback in the development of ideas
  • Liaising effectively with clients and other team members in a courteous and professional manner
  • Continuously develop skills and knowledge of design
  • Research and develop understanding of the landscape of design and F&B
