Midweight Designer

Overview

We Mean This is a small but mighty design and branding agency that helps brands make a meaningful impact. Our clients are mix of large, often media industry clients e.g. National Geographic, Harbor Picture Company and SMEs / start-ups working on a wide range of projects, from websites to brand identities and digital reports to animations, and everything in between. We love working with purpose-driven clients and are selective about who we work with.

We are looking for a Midweight Designer with a passion for motion design to join us on a full-time basis (or 4 days pro rata if you would prefer) working remotely. If the candidate lives locally then a hybrid model with some time in the office in Winchester could be discussed. We are open to non-UK-based employees but your time zone would need to be the same as the UK or GMT+/-1.

The team currently consists of a Design Director, a Senior Designer and a Junior Designer. Whilst we have some motion skills in-house, we are looking for someone to come in and take our motion work to the next level, as well as support the rest of the team on brand identity, website and report design work.

We are a small team who love what we do and feel fortunate that we get to do it for a living. We all chip in on projects and work very collaboratively so a strong team-focused mindset is a must. We take great care over every project we work on, regardless of the size, and if we see the project through to the end – so will you.

About you

Hopefully you will come with an inquisitive mind, an eagerness to learn, and an innate desire to create good work. We always start each project by thoroughly researching ‘why’ (why does this project matter / why should anyone care etc.) to really understand the creative problem we are solving. Ideally you are a conceptual thinker and love creating innovative ways to solve problems. Hopefully you love the craft, even though 95% of what we do is digital. We would hope that you are proactive, not afraid to try new things and are excited to get stuck in.

What we are looking for

• A minimum of 5 years of industry experience
• Ideally a Bachelor's degree or above in graphic design, or a related field
• Fluency in Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Figma
• A team player
• Attention to detail
• A passion for great typography
• Good organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines
• The willingness to listen to feedback and use it to improve
• Problem-solving mindset
• Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
• Experience in building presentations that articulate your ideas and creative justification, and the confidence to present them to clients

• Producing elegant and effective designs for all media
• Designing brand identities

• Animating logos, infographics, social media posts

• Liaising effectively with clients and other team members
• Supporting the Senior Designer through every stage of a project
