The Nichols Creative team is looking for a Midweight/Senior graphic designer to take a leading role in creating visual outputs for our brand and clients.
The designer will work closely with our Creative Director to deliver branding and editorial design.
The role
The role includes a variety of responsibilities and workstreams, which include:
• Designing brand identities. Deliverables can include brand stationery, branded infographics, and website building.
• Designing slide decks, proposals and marketing collateral.
• Generating design content for social media accounts. Deliverables may include enhanced photographs, illustrations, infographics, and motion.
• Designing editorial pieces for print and digital publishing.
• Designing communications, including invites, motion-based greetings cards, and event graphics.
• Producing short films for marketing purposes and events. Delivery can require storyboarding, scriptwriting, sourcing footage, editing footage, and motion design.
• Organising the production of print items. Delivery can require sourcing quotes, liaising with suppliers, preparing artwork, and transporting printed goods to events.
Attributes
The designer should have the following qualities:
• A diverse toolkit
This role requires the full spectrum of graphic design. Traditional graphic design skills are essential, such as branding, typography, editorial design, and infographics. Proficiency with UX and UI, photo editing, video editing, and motion design are highly desirable. If any of the expertise above are lacking, the designer is ready and willing to learn new skills.
• Holistic approach
The designer can work across multiple creative disciplines and is keen to be involved at every stage of the project. From research and conception to design and delivery, the role requires balancing the big picture with an eye for detail. The designer will be eager to venture beyond usual graphic design activities and lend their tools to content creation, campaign ideas, copywriting, and more.
• Organised
The designer can manage their own time, juggle multiple projects, and take full responsibility for delivering design outputs. The designer can reprioritise workstreams at short notice. This role requires switching seamlessly between independent working and team collaboration—flexibility is essential when working with the Nichols Creative team.
• Administrative skills
Alongside design abilities, the designer can be held accountable for the administrative side of visual outputs. This includes organising print production, managing certain digital accounts, handling internal communications, and website maintenance.
• Experience
The designer will have 4+ years of experience working in the design industry, either in agencies or in-house. Experience in pitches and presenting ideas is desirable. The ideal portfolio is bursting with ideas and shows range in line with the design skills listed above.
Software
The designer will ideally have full literacy of Adobe Suite and is keen to learn the basics of new software as required.
