Midweight Designer
Job Description
As a Midweight Designer at FCB London, you’ll play a pivotal role in contributing to the agency’s creative output. We’re looking for someone who is equally skilled in conceptual thinking and craft, someone who has a passion for pushing design and making iconic work.
You’ll be responsible for taking projects from initial idea through to final execution, working closely with senior designers, the Head of Art, and the wider design team to deliver visually outstanding work. You consider yourself a multidisciplinary designer - as comfortable in InDesign as you are After Effects.
This is an opportunity to grow as a designer, contribute fresh ideas, develop strong visual storytelling, brand identities, campaign assets and technical ability. While you’ll take ownership of your own projects, you’ll also work alongside senior designers and creative teams across a wide range of clients.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing for a variety of clients across a broad range of projects, including advertising campaigns, digital assets, social content, motion, and branding.
- Developing iconic visual ideas ensuring work is conceptually sharp and beautifully crafted.
- Collaborating with internal teams creative, strategy, account management, and production to bring ideas to life.
- Communicating clearly with the design team and project teams, flagging barriers or concerns early allowing for efficient workflows.
- Presenting your ideas clearly and confidently internally and to clients.
- Pushing traditional boundaries by bringing new perspectives and approaches to projects.
- Supporting the design department, while taking full ownership of your own projects.
- Ensuring consistency and craft across all client work, upholding brand standards.
- Working on a mix of local and global projects collaborating with FCB offices worldwide.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of experience ideally in advertising, branding, or digital, but we’re open to those with a strong portfolio from other creative industries.
- A portfolio that shows conceptual thinking and high-level craft across a variety of projects.
- A problem solver. Someone who can take a brief and and work out a compelling visual solution.
- A strong understanding of motion design with a good understanding of after effects.
- Experienced in Adobe Creative Suite and a willingness to experiment with emerging tools like MidJourney, Runway, and Firefly for conceptual exploration.
- A team player. Someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, supports others, and isn’t afraid to jump in when needed.
- Time management. Ability to meet deadlines efficiently while flagging any obstacles early.
- Organisation. Strong organisational skills, including structured file management.
- Flexibility. Advertising is a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. We need someone who can adapt quickly. We look after our people and aim to maintain a balanced day-to-day workload, though there may be times when working outside typical hours is required.
- A passion for design culture. Being up to date with trends, new tools, and innovations that push the industry forward.
- Attention to detail with consistency, quality, and craft across everything we do.
- Bonus. Experience with 3D tools like Blender would be great but isn’t a requirement.
