Job Description

How&How are seeking a full-time Digital Design Director to organise, inspire and lead our growing team of digital designers—either in Lisbon or in London. Up to you! You will be a team player and inspiring leader, with a wealth of experience in delivering sophisticated digital design systems and extensive marketing websites to global brands.

You will have a solid understanding of how to translate a brand into a unique yet ultra-functional, user-centric digital experience. You will be completely at ease working with both brand designers and developers—bridging the gap between visuals and code.

You will be the driving force behind digital output whilst nurturing our growing digital design team. It's essential you’re not afraid to get stuck in on all levels of work, helping your team to work towards a common goal: the delivery of beautiful digital experiences for our clients. Egos get left at the door.

Topline: we need a well-rounded, team-player to push our digital design projects forward. You’ll have strong problem-solving skills; knowledge of UX processes and methodologies and great interpersonal skills too.

What we’re after:

  • 6+ years hands-on experience as a UI / UX Designer
  • 100% credible in our core discipline of digital design
  • Notable experience designing complex user interfaces for web and/or mobile applications
  • Thorough understanding of user-centred design, responsive design, mobile first design, and web standards
  • Deep understanding of industry standard tools (in particular Figma)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of UX processes and methodologies
  • Efficient, detail-oriented, organised, and able to work under tight deadlines
  • Strong multi-tasking skills; able to prioritise own work (and ask questions when it's ambiguous)
  • Strong creative instincts and willingness to push further through experimentation
  • Advanced understanding of how to apply the methodologies of interaction design and research to business problems

— Additional tools are a big plus: motion, code, illustration, etc

— Curious about brands and the positive impact they can have on the world

— Interested in more than just design

— Ambitious self-starter who can thrive in ambiguity

— Comfortable engaging with the strategic dimension of our work

— Able to get under the skin of clients issues, strong on content as well as visuals

— Able to build personal relationships and trust with clients

— Articulate, confident and assertive in presenting work

— Strong creative instincts and willingness to push further through experimentation

Job requirements

What you’ll do:

  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity comps to communicate design ideas that illustrate user interaction
  • Design UI and UX based on requirements from concept to final hand-off to developers
  • Lead other UX/ UI designers to provide input and help solve complex interaction problems
  • Work closely with our clients' product design teams to ensure their digital products are all brand aligned
  • Collaborate and communicate with developers to ensure execution and consistency of the experience
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and bring fresh ideas to the table
  • Ensure consistency in designs and content across all company platforms
  • Present designs and design systems to clients
  • Develop digital storyboards and animation as needed
  • Assist with pitches, from designing the creative route to auditing a competitive landscape

What we offer:

  • Salary of €60,000 to €65,000 (Lisbon) or £60,000 to £65,000 (London)
  • 9 Day Fortnight with every other Friday off
  • 28 Day additional Holiday allocation (including Bank Holidays)
  • €1,000/year Skills & Training Allowance
  • €1,000/year Work Together Allowance (trips and accommodation between London and Lisbon)
  • Macbook Pro setup provided
  • Hybrid 50 / 50 working setup
  • Pro Bono Environmental Studio Projects
  • Transparent Tiered Salary System
  • Quarterly Reviews with Bonus Opportunities
  • Resident Second Home Membership with permanent desk in Lisbon / London / Hollywood with all the perks
  • Second Home Membership access to cultural programme of talks and social events
  • 2 x 2 Week Remote Working Opportunities (timezone dependent)
  • We’re currently working towards B-Corp Status and hope to complete in late 2022 / early 2023
