ABOUT THE ROLE:

As Commercial Art Director you will be responsible for the creative output of the commercial art team, ensuring content quality and maintaining standards of excellence throughout. This a management role that will require you to lead a creative team on commercial branded content projects across all our Hearst titles, art directing stills and video shoots as well as being responsible for working on design and visuals across all products.

The responsibilities of the Art Director include interpreting client briefs and turning them into creative solutions that seamlessly integrate the Hearst Brands and deliver on client KPIs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, and be the main point of contact for the visual art direction across all commercial campaigns.
  • Art direction and design of visuals across all products that work to the house style of each Hearst brand to drive home its unique positioning in the mind of the consumer.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members, ensuring their work is on-brand, and development opportunities are maximised.
  • Maintain and grow your pool of talent and crew, from photographers, illustrators, set designers to stylists. Ensuring that they are in line with our brand aesthetics, building relationships along the way.
  • Work closely with the Production and Subs Hub to ensure a seamless print design process that works to deadline, runs efficiently, and minimises hiccups – from early-stage planning, right through to finalising pages and helping send the magazine layouts to press.
  • Commissioning photography and illustration across all brands and platforms.
  • Lead the creative direction on all commercial stills and video shoots by creating moodboards/ treatments that clearly online the vision of the campaign for our external clients and internal teams.
  • Extensive knowledge in shoot production by working closely with the Producers to coordinate and plan shoots.
  • Attend shoot days, enacting your creative vision for the shoot, working with the crew and clients to make sure everything is captured and aligns to the brief.
  • Take in amends from clients and have the design knowledge to implement them whilst keeping true to Hearst brands.
  • Fostering a collaborative relationship and liaising with editorial teams. Keeping abreast of the distinct visual language as well as design of each magazine and reflecting that style within branded content campaigns.
  • Deliver creativity that also drives results as it resonates so clearly with the audience.
  • Liaising and collaborating with internal departments and external clients on commercial projects across all brands. Be client facing, representing Hearst at shoots where clients are present.
  • To be an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values.
