Job Description

Overview

Creative Lives in Progress is an inclusive creative careers resource, on a mission to transform the way emerging talent access, understand and connect with the industry.

We encourage greater transparency and representation within the creative working world by sharing advice and insight, highlighting entry-level opportunities, as well as hosting events that bring talent and industry together.

With that mission in mind, we are looking for an experienced, proactive and detail-oriented, Project Manager, to ensure all of our events run smoothly from concept to execution.

Job Purpose

Last year we were thrilled to welcome over 1,400 emerging creatives to Creative Lives events. We held online Portfolio Reviews for creatives across the UK, and in-person for the likes of Google; introduced regular IRL Networking events with Affinity; and continued to help demystify creative jobs in our What is…? panel discussions. We’re now looking to further build on this, and create even more opportunities for entry-level talent to connect both with industry and each other.

As an Event Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for orchestrating logistics, timelines and budgets to bring our events to life – whether in-person or online. You’ll establish efficient workflows and systems, ensuring seamless planning and delivery to create engaging, accessible and impactful experiences for our attendees. Acting as a trusted operational partner to the Head of Events, you’ll balance creative vision with structured execution while supervising junior team members and/or freelancers.

Key responsibilities

  • Project and event management: Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of multiple events, ensuring flawless delivery.
  • Process and workflow optimisation: Develop timelines and workflows to enhance team efficiency.
  • Budgeting and financial acumen: Manage event budgets, forecast costs and implement cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Logistics and operations: Oversee the technical setup and coordination for events, including troubleshooting and attendee experience, while implementing best practices for accessibility and engagement.
  • Team communication and collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, Company Partners and our internal teams.
  • Risk management and problem solving: Anticipate and resolve challenges quickly to keep events on track.

Tasks

  • Plan and effectively resource our event activations calendar throughout the year.
  • Manage the production and delivery of our monthly in-person and online events, including Portfolio Reviews, What is…? panel discussions and IRL Networking events.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of bespoke events and activations for our Company Partners and clients, from start to finish.
  • Optimise our current systems, tools, and processes.
  • Maintain clear, consistent and effective communication with team members, freelancers and collaborators to keep events on schedule and within budget.
  • Liaise directly with event attendees and industry guests, handling invitations, briefings and event coordination.
  • Capture and report on the impact of events, keeping a monthly overview of development, targets and results.
  • Organise and inspire teams to deliver high-quality work.
  • Maintain the identity and values of the business publicly and represent the company at in-person or online events.
  • Build successful, lasting relationships with event attendees, industry professionals and the creative community.

About You

  • We are looking for a seasoned Project Manager with solid experience at a Midweight level.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration: Confident working with clients, collaborators and internal teams, with strong verbal and written skills.
  • Highly organised and process-driven: Detail-oriented, methodical and capable of managing multiple moving parts with precision.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused: Can anticipate challenges, problem-solve effectively, and welcome new challenges.
  • Time and budget management: Skilled in planning ahead, resourcing teams and prioritising tasks to deliver high-quality work within deadlines and budgets.
  • Events and logistics expertise: Experience producing both in-person and online events, ideally within the creative sector.
  • Passion for the creative industry: Committed to developing events that support emerging talent.
  • Experience with platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet and Airtable is a plus.
  • Hosting and presenting skills: Experience or interest in public speaking is welcomed but not essential.
