Senior Designer (5m FTC)
Job Description
ABOUT US
We’re Minor Figures. Founded on a rooftop in 2014 by three friends with a shared love of coffee, MF has since grown into a global brand with a team of over 100 people across the world, with offices in the UK, USA, and Australia. We create plant-based products for coffee lovers, baristas and a better planet. We love teaming up with people as mad about coffee as we are and love nothing more than heading down to their local cafe to enjoy a chat with the friendly & expert barista.
All our products are 100% plant based and vegan friendly. The company is exploding, achieving record sales figures each quarter.
Minor Figures would be nothing without the independent coffee scene and our products can be found in over 4,000 specialty coffee shops worldwide, where we regularly run Freedays and Minor Figures FM events. We’re also expanding fast, with products lining the shelves in major supermarkets in our three core regions and our team achieving record sales figures quarter-on-quarter.
We’re a B Corp certified company passionate about creating a positive impact and putting sustainability at the forefront of everything we do.
We have big plans for the future of MF. As we continue to grow at a rapid pace, we want to welcome creative, curious, free-spirited, bold thinkers to join us to make that happen. Everyone’s invited. We collaborate, improvise, synchronise. We are wholly authentic, uplifting and constructive. Because magic happens when everyone’s vibing and having a good time. We value individuality and we want you to be yourself. If you share our love for coffee and you want every day you spend at work to feel like your first, we’d love to hear from you.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Designer is a core part of our global Creative team, responsible for ideating and designing printed and digital assets. This role is pivotal in our pursuit of being the most loved brand on the planet, dreaming up and delivering the wildly creative activities that grow our brand awareness, engagement and love.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
As Senior Designer, we'd love to see your creative influence shine through daily. Here's an overview of how we feel you could make that happen:
Lead and collaborate on the creation and delivery of beautifully designed and visually compelling assets, that both represents our brand and pushes us to new heights.
Work from ideation through to execution on concepts across multi-channel collateral spanning Brand, Web, OOH, Space, Product & Events.
Contribute and lead regular brainstorming sessions within the Creative Team.
Keep your finger on the pulse within cultural spaces and bring the learnings into everything we do at MF.
Set, maintain and push the benchmark for quality and best practices within the design team, ensuring brand consistency throughout all applications.
Review, mentor and guide our in-house designers and any freelancers to ensure all output is delivered to the highest quality.
ABOUT YOUR TEAM
Within our Creative team, you’ll report to Alice, our Head of Design, and will work with a small crew of designers, a creative project manager and a copywriter. We’re a small and fast-paced team that loves working collaboratively and creatively to produce bold and wonderful work. We’re not interested in conforming to the “usual” way of doing things, and instead, we value bravery and uniqueness in our quest to bring joy to everyone who comes across our brand.
You’ll also work closely with a motley crew of teammates across the UK, US and Australia, who are celebrated for their individuality in a work culture that encourages you to be optimistic, experimental and daring. Minor Figures is filled to the brim with creative thinkers who are truly passionate about our brand, so the Creative team is a powerful epicentre of that energy!
ABOUT YOU
We'd love to chat with people who have a minimum of six years of relevant experience working within an in-house team or agency environment. We want to see a strong portfolio of work that showcases your design bravery, technical ability, and strategic problem-solving in deploying brand excellence across various platforms.
We're seeking a highly creative and driven individual with exceptional design prowess. As a key player within the creative team, you'll be instrumental in always pushing for the highest standard across all our output. Your ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage your time across multiple projects, and pivot seamlessly between them is crucial. You will be comfortable taking the lead on extensive briefs and collaborating closely with the creative team and project stakeholders. Fluency in creating assets for both print and digital, along with a deep understanding of these two worlds, is essential. Attention to detail, consistency, and accuracy are non-negotiable.
Your ability to work effectively within a team is essential, as is your skill in providing clear and constructive feedback to junior team members, mentoring and guiding them towards creating excellent work. Your commitment to excellence and refusal to settle for less will be a driving force in our team.
In addition to being an outstanding designer, we are looking for someone who has fluency in illustration, animation, and 3D programs, skills that can be harnessed for our digital channels to breathe life into our concepts.
We'd love to see in your application that you excel in communication, maintain a positive can-do attitude, and truly value feedback from your creative teammates. Striking the right balance between confidence in your work and flexibility when collaborating with others to achieve the perfect outcome is vital.
We are looking for someone who loves the buzz of being in the office, working with the rest of the team, and will not shy away from challenges outside their comfort zone.
Finally, you'll have exceptional knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop/After Effects/Premiere Pro); Figma and Blender would also be highly beneficial.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
We realise that a job is more than just the take home salary each month. So what are you really getting?
As part of the MF team, not only will you have the opportunity to own your role and make it, you and us a success, you’ll also be becoming part of something very special. Minor Figures’ ethos is that everyone is welcome, as long as you leave all hang-ups, social barriers and prejudices at the door.
You’ll embark on a journey that doesn’t have a destination. It just keeps going. Your contribution will help us become the most loved brand on the planet & the number speciality coffee brand. With that, you’ll grow, develop and progress as we do and you’ll play your part in us having a planet to do this on.
And, as part of the Minor Figures team, you’ll have the opportunity to invest in the business, with the option to buy shares in the company at an agreed price. Having skin in the game and really contributing to our success. Because it’s you and us all that do make this all happen.
But of course, we look after you in the other ways that you’d expect:
- 25 days holiday allowance in addition to bank holidays
- Equipsme health insurance plan (AXA network, includes EAP and dental / optical)
- Statutory pension contribution through Nest
- Employee share options scheme, available to all full time employees.
- 1 day paid leave to support a cause of your choice through volunteering or activism
