We are a children's brand producing a series of non-fiction books that entertain and educate young minds. Our forthcoming 'Guides' series will cover a range of 8 different areas exploring life on our planet, with a focus on engaging, informative, and visually stimulating content.
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and creative Graphic Designer to join our team on a freelance basis. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the visual and stylistic direction of our book series.
We are looking for someone who has experience working on children's books with a partiuclar skill in creating styles, hierachies and contemporary engaging desgin systems for chuildren.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and establish a contemporary design style for our series of 8 children's non-fiction books.
- Work closely with our team to understand the vision and requirements for each book.
- Collaborate with illustrators and incorporate their assets into the book layouts.
- Use mixed media techniques to create designs that are modern, cool, and visually captivating for a young audience.
- Ensure that the layout, typography, and overall syntax of the books are coherent and appealing.
- Be adaptable to feedback and able to iterate designs in line with our brand's vision and standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in book design, particularly in children's or educational publishing.
- Strong portfolio showcasing your skills in layout design, typography, and use of mixed media.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work remotely and manage your time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with the latest design software and technologies.
Working Arrangement:
- This is a freelance position with flexible hours.
- The initial engagement will focus on establishing a design style for one book, with the potential to extend to the entire series based on performance and fit.
