Job Description

Studio Bergini are hiring a Mid-weight Graphic Designer starting from November.

This is a key role within the Bergini team, working with the directors on a wide range of projects across arts, culture, and commerce, both locally and internationally. The designer will conceptualise design proposals and develop visual concepts and original ideas across both screen, print and 3D.

The candidate must be organised and able to handle working on several projects simultaneously. We’ll look for someone with a passion and enthusiasm for their profession, and we aim to provide space for our team to produce their best work in an encouraging studio environment with emphasis on professional development.

Salary: £30,000 to £32,000 (pro-rata)

Responsibilities Overview

1. Design

  • Concept creation and design development.
  • Collaborate closely with directors to conduct research and build project proposals and presentations.
  • Overseeing design projects across print, spatial, and digital media, supporting the process from start to finish.
  • Assist in general design production tasks.
  • Prepare artwork and technical specifications for final output.
  • Develop brand identity guidelines for both print and web.

2. Project Management

  • Liaise directly with clients.
  • Coordinate with collaborators on various aspects of the project.
  • Effectively manage time and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Maintain clear and organised project documentation and notes.

3. Documentation

  • Document completed projects, including photography and editing.
  • Manage regular updates to the studio website and Instagram.

Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in a graphic design role within a creative studio or equivalent, including managing projects from start to finish.
  • Proficiency in conceptualising and developing designs across both print and digital media.
  • Experience delivering creative projects in the cultural and commercial sectors.
  • Familiarity with overseeing production processes.
  • Attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Good understanding of print techniques, materials, and production methods.
  • Experience working with web design, and collaborating with digital developers.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with Glyphs and Figma is a plus.
  • Additional skills such as type design, programming, or animation are a bonus.
  • Knowledgeable about typography and typographic history.
  • Strong interest in design, photography, art, and architecture.
  • Good knowledge of design history and relevant references.

Start Date

  • November 2024 (or soon after).

Terms

  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Part-time position requiring 24 hours of work across 3 days a week with 17 days of paid holidays.
  • 8 hour work day (includes 30min. paid lunch break).
  • Initial contract: permanent position with a 3-month probationary period.
  • This is an in-studio role at Studio Bergini's East London offices, with some flexibility for remote work.
